Title: Organic / Paleo / safe dish wash?
Post by: goodsamaritan on March 15, 2009, 09:02:02 am
Forgive me, I don't wash the dishes, our maids do this for us.
I just realized our maids are using common corporate made dish wash detergent (JOY) which is as usual toxic.
What non-toxic and safe methods, materials of dish washing material do you use?

I get stuff from my local health food store that is supposedly non toxic and environmentally friendly. There's a lot of brands of that stuff here in USA, Seventh Generation and Ecover are two I know of.

I use Ecover too. I used to use standard washing-up liquid but it's a hassle as the stuff remains, to a tiny extent, after the plate has been washed, so that there's an aftertaste of detergent if one puts new meat on the supposedly clean plate. I think(?) that Ecover is so designed as to not leave traces sticking to the plates.

You all might want to try to just use hot water and a sponge. I find that especially when 'raw' the fat or particles simply dissolve off the plate etc. Any soap residues are so obnoxious to me.
