Title: Don't use black pepper...
Post by: IonSurfer on July 30, 2019, 10:23:47 am
It's carcinogenic:

I apologise for my previous naive recommendation.

Pure sea salt is much tastier on meat anyway (and meat is enhanced further still with the addition of chopped tomato or grated apple (there's a reason why they form the basis of ketchup and bbq sauce respectively)).

Cheers!

Everyone is different. I find black pepper to be an excellent digestive aid. On the other hand, I find that more than a tiny pinch of salt in my mouth creates an awful reaction in me.

I use tons of black pepper. Don't use red pepper anymore because it's a nightshade.

That study didn't sound very scientific or exact.

I googled black pepper and cancer looking to see if I could confirm what you posted and instead found this:
Quote
Another study in rats on a high-fat diet observed that treatment with black pepper and piperine decreased free radical levels to amounts similar to those in rats fed a normal diet

Finally, a test-tube study in human cancer cells noted that black pepper extracts were able to stop up to 85% of cellular damage associated with cancer development
though it's not any more scientific than the article you linked to.

Looked through some more links when googling black pepper and cancer and couldn't find a single one supporting that it caused it but plenty suggesting it may prevent it.
