Title: Collaborative proof of meat eating evolution
Post by: kurite on October 05, 2010, 01:08:38 pm
Hi I decided its about time to make a list of genetic changes or reasons that allow us to eat meat and gain health benefits from it.
-We are unable to absorb the b12 from our colons and no plant food is a source of b12.
-We don't have an effective mechanism for producing taurine, vitamin A from beta carotene or producing DHA from ALA fatty acids.
-We absorb iron and zinc from animal products far better than from plant sources.

Please add more I realize at the moment this list is rather small.

P.S. I remember reading about how we could handle dietary cholesterol far better than great apes but couldn't find the webpage anymore. Anyone who knows anything about this as well please post.

Humans suffer from malnutrition of all sorts on a meat free diet.

No tribe in recorded history has ever been vegan.
