Title: Question for maths geniuses

I just came across a puzzle I can`t solve(3 rows, 3 columns):-

11 19  29

6   11   16

17 17    ?


So, what is the number that should be in the area covered by the question-mark? Thanks.

If it's just about spotting a pattern, I suppose it could be 33.  This would reveal a pattern whereby the final number of each row is the sum of the first two numbers of each row minus 1 eg  11+19=30..30-1=29, 6+11=17..17-1=16, 17+17=34..34-1=33.

Just a quick observation.

I can`t believe I missed that. Thanks. I suppose I am more used to simpler equivalents in past IQ tests where one simply checked the differences between the preceding  1st and 2nd numbers and added to or multiplied etc.  the 2nd figures accordingly.

I got the same thing Michael but I used a different scheme.

I went vertically;
11 - 5 = 6 +11 = 17
19 - 8 =11 +6 = 17
 Then you add the reds sideways
-5 + -8 = -13 and 29 - 13 = 16 then
+11 + + 6 = + 17 and then +17 + +16 = 33

Your way is easier and I was just proving it by going in another direction.
I love doing these things.
