Title: Sellers of raw uncoagulated blood/obtaining blood
Post by: Techydude on February 02, 2011, 03:30:57 pm
I've heard of the benefits of consuming raw blood ie minerals, calcium, etc through members who've consumed it, but I don't have any sources!

Can anyone list the sellers of raw uncoagulated blood, or online sites, or whole organic grass fed/natural diet fed carcasses, etc. Show me your sources people  :)

I only like the taste of raw blood from wild game.  I get them sometimes vacuum-packed, which retains the blood.

@Tyler, how much blood comes with the animal in the packages?  Did they drain any off?
@techydude, I don't think there are any regular sources.  I could very well be wrong, but I think you have to have super good luck to get blood.

Anywhere from a few trickles to a pint and a half, with each package of raw wild hare. They don't drain it off, they just skin the animal and the hare is so full of blood that it leaches into the rest of the plastic bag.

Anyone know any sellers that vacuum seal their meat in a bunch of blood then?

I can get as much blood as I want from my local 100% grass-fed beef butcher/meat processor(slaughter house). If you can't find either of those then try asking the farmer.

I have a question about the mineral content of beef blood. I can't find anywhere that says the mineral concentrations that are contained in blood....

Most cuts of meat that are sealed in plastic contain lots of thick red liquid that has a strong mineral taste. I am not sure that's blood however. Can anyone elaborate? Shoprite supermarkets in my area sell pork blood, but consuming that is probably a bad idea as it's pork and is factory farmed.

Bummer.

I just went out to the local ethnic food market and purchased some dugo.

I was super excited to try it and everything. I should probably return it...
