Raw Brazil Nuts?  Your opinion and experience?

Found some in the health store, bought the kids a pack for snacks last Saturday when they played the harp for the shoppers.

Sometimes I am allergic to them, the allergy comes and goes.

I have had no problems with them. That said, the WAPF recommendation is to soak all raw nuts for 24 hours before eating them. I have found this tactic works for raw walnuts and other raw nuts.

Hi GS
Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, sometimes I soak them, sometimes I dont.
Although there are tannins and phytic acid in the outer dark covering which with soaking leech out and which could be construed as 'anti', they also have redeeming qualities too (ha! the yin and yang of the nut!) : at least on some occasions when I find the taste quite appealing, far more appealing than the soaked equivalent.
Like last night for instance!  :)

Are they 100% raw or still pasteurized?

It's probably one of the few plant foods that has a reasonable amount of zinc in it.  It's also high in selenium, I bought a bag of shelled and put them in the freezer and I snack on them from time to time. I can't say that they are the best tasting nut out there, they are rather bland tasting; but mixed with other nuts like almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts you can make a pretty good snack.

They're one of the only nuts i know of that are considered wild. So they're wild food.
