Title: How much beef do you consume a week/month?
Post by: TX BAR ORGANICS on March 10, 2012, 01:03:27 am
I'm doing some research since the majority of my clients are part of the paleo lifestyle. I am trying to find out how much beef a family or a individual consumes in a week/month. I want to put paleo packages together that cater to a individual or a family on a weekly, bi weekly or monthly basis. I am trying to get an idea of how much ground beef and steaks everyone consumes on average.  I appreciate your ideas and insight. Thanks Everyone!

P.S I am proud to say that my associate and I will  be partaking in the paleo plan challenge next month and I am excited to keep you posted on our progress.

Generally speaking, we Rawpalaeodieters don't feel the need to eat as much raw foods as cooked-food-eaters. This is because raw foods have higher nutrient-levels than cooked foods.

As a general rule, I never eat more than c. 1 kilo of raw meat a day, usually somewhat  less,  though I might eat a lot of raw carbs as well. Some days I do whole-day fasts where I eat nothing all day.

I eat 1/2 to 3/4 pound of raw animal per day, none of it ground beef or steaks.

I've looked at your site and it doesn't appeal to me at all. Here's why, for your consideration in planning:
- I eat nothing frozen.
- I buy large cuts of meat and hang them in my refrigerator, effectively dry aging them.
- My animal food consumption consists of as many types of offal as I can find.
- Marrow bones are king! I dig out and eat the marrow raw.

I'm in California, the SF bay area. My primary meat sources are butchers who buy whole animals and cut them to my order, local producers, and CSAs with local drop locations.

i think your company should definitely encourage your clients who are part of the paleo lifestyle to first source their meat locally, supporting their neighbors, the ranchers and butchers.  It's hard enough to be a smaller farmer or rancher and compete with local stores, now that the internet allows access to food from afar, those who actually have the luxury of money that could actually support their local economy are being lured by so many others to send their resources out of town, out of state.  there are a number of other reasons it's kind of absurd to get meat in the mail.....

Many of us refuse to eat frozen meat, and generally prefer organs to regular muscle meat.

I probably eat about 1 pound of meat a day, mostly in the form of seafood.  I do enjoy high-quality  unfrozen grassfed organ meats when I can get them easily, though.

Most of us however do eat frozen meat on a regular/daily basis, or am I wrong? Ofcourse we would all prefer fresh meat.
Maybe a poll is in order.

Online polls are useless. They are mostly not filled in because people online are often inherently lazy, so they usually give a skewed, wrong view of a particular stance.

I find that it depends on country etc. I get the impression that people in America are more likely to freeze their meats than anywhere else, as Americans often have these vast freezer compartments that I don't generally find elsewhere to any real extent. But, judging from accounts, I reckon more americans still eat their meats chilled rather than frozen.
