Title: quick, help! wild tuna unfrozen, buy or don't buy?
Post by: LePatron7 on May 25, 2012, 03:21:52 am
Hey everyone. I'm at whole foods and they have wild caught tuna, unfrozen.
I'm concerned about parasites. Should I buy it and freeze it? Or eat it fresh?

Are you still there at whole foods?
Ask if anyone there knows how to see parasites. An experienced fishmonger can tell if the fish is good or not - parasites or not. Also ask when it arrived.

I already bought it. It looks really good. No smell. After cutting it up nothing weird stood out.
I'm about to eat 3 oz

I never check for parasites. I just eat. I love wild fish!

I sometimes buy fresh, wildcaught, never frozen ahi tuna/yellowfin tuna at fresh&easy, and I've eaten it and don't seem to have any parasites.. But I think most people don't really worry about parasites here, either we don't get them, or we have them but they don't affect us.
