Title: What's your favorite organ meat?
Post by: JaX on November 24, 2008, 08:26:50 am
The topic title says itself! Pick your top 2 favorite organ meats.
If you want, post which was your 1st choice and which was your 2nd and why in the comments section.

If tongue was on the list I would have chosen that!
But my two choices were kidneys and heart, respectively.

i've only tried liver, bone marrow, and heart. out of those, i definitely prefer the bone marrow. it's like eating a stick of butter

I've only had tongue from grass-fed bison, but I'm not lying when I say it was the best tasting thing I've ever eaten. Satisfying not only to the taste buds but to my whole body.

I went along with you guys saying the heart is an organ, but the tongue now?! What the hell isn't an organ? The tongue is pure muscle and fat and doesn't store anything like an organ does.

You're technically correct, and tongue should probably be called a "variety meat" or something like that, but come on, must one always be semantically correct? ;)

Meh it's just interesting that anything not sold as "meat" in supermarkets is referred to as organs. I'd say suet is closer to an organ than tongue is.
