Off Topic / Re: Six men to brave 520-day isolation on 'Mars mission'

There was also abnormal development of the organs I believe as well, also the reduced gravity on mars cannot be made up for by heavier space suits, as heavier suits don't increase gravity, they are just heavier... if being heavier was the issue, they'd just send fat men into space... the reduced gravity effects you no matter how much weight you have on you unless you pile on so much weight that you can barely walk, in which case that would only help with the bones, your brain and internal organs still have issues with the reduced gravity... insects would seem like the only viable option for bringing live food, as they tend to have the highest nutritional value to feed ratio of all sources of animal protein, Chickens are #1 as far as common sources of protein in the west goes...

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: How to eat cherry pits?
« on: June 11, 2010, 08:40:16 pm »
yeah...the pits are toxic, a few here and there wont kill you, but many can kill you, cyanide is only used even by those who believe it helps with cancer, in extremely small trace amounts, the pits of droops other than the almond, do not carry "small" amounts of cyanide...to many people have died from stuff like this...I really wouldn't suggest it...

doesnt this message board give you the option to lock a topic? if you lock it, people should still be able to view it, but not be able to post on it...

yeah, they keep them in a tank on the boat, there are these big live boxes they use that hook up to a filtration/aeration system and everything... my ex's dad uses them, he trucks fish live all up and down the west coast... I guess its personal taste really, cause I loooove them, and have been eating it for years... the mild sweet firm flesh...:D

er, I live in a town where I can get the fish fresh and still alive, so they all taste sweet and mild, not the least bit "fishy" raw, foul tasting ocean fish means that fish wasnt fresh at all... I cant eat chicken raw either, texture thing too... Cod is wonderful raw, if its fresh...it gets nasty fast if it isnt.

Thanks, I do actually, I curate life,lol... or at least I try to... Curator is latin for Guardian, and thats part of who I try to be,  Guardian for the weak and the innocent, a Guardian for that which is beautiful and pure... all that sorta stuff, im not perfect, I screw it up, but I do my best...

usually to dehydrate meat safely  the meat must be cured, otherwise the chance for bacterial incursion is high!!!  i believe using chemical cooking though would still fall within raw paleo guidelines? (like using lime juice, or orange juice, or some other kinda acid and a small amount of sea salt?") then heres something, im not sure if anyone on here knows about, meat actually dries faster, and keeps more of its flavor if dehydrated with COLD air, plus since cold reduces bacterial growth, it makes it far more likely your meat will be safe than dehydrating at higher temps, that aren't high enough to cook the meat... its the only form of "raw" beef I can stand... search google for "alton brown dehydrator" and you should be able to find some helpful stuff, I know there is some stuff on youtube showing him making jerky... I hope this was helpful ^_^

Ive tried land animals, the texture makes me nauseous raw... I am fine with it medium rare, even a bit closer to rare, but the texture I just cant handle raw... interesting thing to point out, I actually HAVE to eat a diet rich in LDL cholesterol, or else I could die, as when I was mostly vegan, my LDL levels dropped to 20, and under... many people think that would be a good thing, but they don't realize that your body NEEDS LDL cholesterol to survive...  its what he neurons in your brain are made out of, it reinforces your cellular walls throughout the body...and its the main ingredient your body uses to form your stomach acid... so I guess I was literally BORN for the paleo diet, just not sure if I can ever do it raw,lol...

Well, I came to this site as Ive been told by a member of another site i had stumbled across that the people here are far more open minded and accepting... I must state though that I have literally NO interest in raw land based meats, I don't think there is anything wrong with it, its just a texture and flavor thing for me, just like how I hate the texture and flavor of tapioca, but most people I know love it... some things I just cant stand... I do however love some raw sea creatures, and I love raw veggies and fruits and some sprouted grains... tried to get into juicing and stuff, but its a pain in the butt to juice with nothing other than a blender and some cheesecloth... my friend keeps making a joke that since I'm so poor, I should put up a donation button for a juicer and real dehydrator,LOL...  but I'm not THAT much of a bum, not yet at least,LOL... anyway, from what Ive read on here so far, it seems like my friend is really right about all of you, and I'm really glad to be a member here. :)

Welcoming Committee / Re: Introduction and sabotage
« on: June 10, 2010, 08:41:31 am »
So nearly a yr later I'm at it again, following the same pattern and finding myself slipping back to filling my face with junk.  The reasons for this are my addiction to junk food, and a habit of self sabotage.
I just wondered if anyone else has had similar problems?
Thanks Rich

Actually, one thing to remember, they have found that all processed fats and sugars currently on the market have ADDICTIVE qualities within the human body, some being more addictive than others, but they can cause severe cravings, and even in some cases mild withdrawal symptoms, I made the mistake last week of buying some some ice cream sandwiches, one of my many forms of kryptonite, and Now Ive been craving those unhealthy processed fats and sugars ever since, its even worse with fast food cheeseburgers, be strong, if you can go long enough with NO processed fats and sugars, the cravings will go away, although sometimes its hard not to fall off the band wagon, especially if you have issues with emotional eating... but im sure you can do it! good luck!!!
