Why do I have more likeliness to overeat raw honey, raw nuts, raw fruit then whole oatmeal simmered in water (I just make it a point not to eat it)... to me it tastes pretty good and after a fair sized bowl of oatmeal I can no longer eat more, genuinely full...not wanting more, not addicted. In the past 2 months I tried a bowl of oatmeal and thats the effect I had. Not the same case with chips, get addicted...don't know how else to think of it.

That is true I am not denying that. But still many people can do well on a clean partially cooked paleo, providing they are healthy to begin with, there is no denying that (forget about that they get sick in their 80's or 90's - I mean before that)...theres many examples of people doing well on such diets, they are fit, they look great, feel good, what more do they want. No matter how I imagine things, when I am hungry and given cooked meat (not overcooked) I get no problems and I get sated, am I supposed to develop problems, after raw meats, cause I don't, I can eat both still, raw and cooked, not at the same time though (again I just try to minimize the cooked as much as possible, maybe couple times a week, and I LOVE eating raw meats)... l) Is it possible many RAFers don't "suffer" from eat cooked meat or heated animal fat? I think it is...what amount of people here don't have issues eating a piece of non-overcooked meat alone? Perhaps we should have a poll...

I feel like your doubt is well placed, raw egg whites (not yolks) are FUKKIN NASTY to me. They will always be, I can eat raw rotting meat and not raw egg whites....lol...even if I was in starvation, I'd eat raw egg whites and still find them NASTY! but give me any raw meats, raw fish, raw fat yum! How you explain that....do I have to adjust myself to not like cooked egg whites and like raw ones even though eating cooked egg whites gives me no problem...no...obviously I am SOMEWHAT evolved to eat a bit of cooked egg white, who cares if its not raw paleo, I can't deny that I don't process it well either can I?

I love raw paleo, but I am not going to pretend that a sunny side up egg is making me feel ill, cause it frikkin isn't lol...
Anyways I am just talking from my personal experience...this could not apply to many people!
Cooked eggs almost always make me feel very stressed out while raw eggs calm me. I agree cooked eggs taste much better but I don't handle them very well. As has been brought up before, maybe we aren't well adapted to eggs in general. I do consume them regularly though because they are a very clean source of energy for me when I eat them raw. I do know that different persons react differently to them so I'm not condemning them cooked.

I also agree that the human species has some level of adaptation to cooked food in general. However, I believe raw foods are almost always superior to our health and well-being at this stage of evolution. Appreciate the discussion :)

Click "Profile" (at the top), then "Account Related Settings" at the left under Modify Profile. From here you should see the field to change your email. After you change it to what you want, you just enter your password where it asks for it and click "Change Profile."

As for old bone marrow, after a few days in the fridge It does get a kind of sour taste, but I eat it anyway without any ill effect, My kids love it as well.

I would also recommend that you look into high meat as effective anti anxiety remedy,
It works for me and many others on this forum.
Well I think I will at least try it before throwing it out. I don't really have any experience with it but it seems like it should keep fairly well if its mostly fat.

Thanks for the suggestion of high meat for my anxiety. I've read about it a good deal in other parts of the forum and initially heard about it from Aajonus. It sounds like something I may want to get started with sooner rather than later.

Well I will just have to make sure I don't let it sit around next time. It is still a little intimidating because I haven't tried it yet but many members here say that it is one of the easiest raw animals foods to get used to so I will just have to ignore my trepidation and try it already. Thanks for the reply goodsamaritan.

Sorry, I don't know the answer. It's just that everyone is assuming they were ingested, so I wanted to bring attention to the possibility that they got there some other way. I actually read lots of posts about it, and people had lots of different stories as to how he got them, some of which involved ingestion, some semi-decapitation, and some cysts from ingrowing hairs.

I've never considered that they came from an open-head wound but that would make a lot of sense. It is comforting to know that he may not have gotten them from sushi so thanks for the alternate explanation.

This is pretty big news. I don't know how many times I've heard The China Study referenced as definitive proof of a plant based diet being the healthiest diet for humans. I've even had a close person friend cite it to me as reason to adopt veganism for better health. When I was wrapped up in the dogma of raw veganism I also believed it probably was very accurate and solid evidence of the superiority of a plant-based diet even though I've never read the book.

Judging by Campbell's response, he seems to be rattled to say the least. I'm excited to see how it will continue to play out.

Just don't get the top of your head sawn off in a place where there are flies then, and they won't lay their eggs in your brain.

If I'm understanding you correctly, this is how he contracted those brain parasites? Sorry to reiterate but I took it as a joke when I first read your response.

so what can i do ?  i would like to at least add raw fish to the diet but i am scared.  i keep seeing that image in my mind of that japanese guys' brain eaten by worms - the guy who liked sushi.

can somebody explain the deal to me ?

I've also seen the video of the Japanese guy with worms in his brain and I'm sure that it is probably a rare case, but does anybody know how he got them? I'm guessing from eating many exotic types of raw sea creatures but I'm curious if anyone knows because I would like to avoid them. I'm fairly comfortable with most of the body parasites and understand how they can act as waste cleaners but I am a little paranoid of any brain parasites.

I've been lurking for a couple months and decided that it is time to introduce myself. I'm 24 years old and I believe now that the Standard American Diet has had a negative effect on mind and health for most, if not all of my life.

I've had social and general anxiety for almost as long as I can remember. Its been severe enough in my past that I thought I may have some sort of serious mental illness(beyond generalized anxiety). I tried some anti-anxiety medication for a while but it didn't really solve anything and just made me feel like a zombie most of the time. I have however been able to tame it by removing most of the worst things out there such as white flour, white sugar, and hydrogenated oils to name a few. Like many here I discovered raw veganism about 4 years ago and eventually came to believe that it was the holy grail of diets.

I've had brief, one and two week runs of raw veganism but fortunately I have never committed to it long term. The way I view it now is that it can be a good cleansing or fasting diet but it can also be the opposite of what many people really need to heal and become well. In my brief experiments with it I have to admit that I felt great while doing it. However, I also felt cold even during the warm months here and lost too much weight to be comfortable with. Even when I was the most convinced that was veganism was the way to eat, something about it just didn't seem right.

I was only ever really interested in raw veganism from a health perspective. I do care about the condition animals are raised in but I am not at all opposed to eating them if that is the healthiest path to take. And I now believe that eating meat for me personally is the healthiest path to take.

I first learned about eating raw meat for health from Ramiel Nagel and his book Cure Tooth Decay. I'm sure most members here are already aware but he promotes an Aajonus Vonderplanitz/Weston Price style of diet. I'm definitely sold on the idea that grains are unhealthy but I am still planning to experiment with raw dairy. I have a lot of European blood so I believe may be able to do well with it but I am willing to drop it completely if necessary.

About a month ago I had my first raw (actually very lightly seared and warmed) steak and I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed it. I am still having a little bit of trouble enjoying the iron-like taste of blood though.

I also noticed that I felt very calm and contented after eating it, which is the opposite of what I've experienced eating cooked steak. I'm lucky enough to live by a small time butcher that I can request fatty cuts from.

I have a quick question though, and I apologize if its already been answered elsewhere, but how long does marrow usually keep in the fridge? I bought a cow femur that the butcher sawed in half about 2 weeks ago and I'm wondering if its good and if there is a way to tell if it has gone bad?
