In the fertilize egg you foud was there a label stating they were fertilized ?

Yes, the egg carton was boldly labeled "FERTILIZED EGGS", the same way it would say "FREE RANGE" or "ORGANIC".

Have you tried eating just the yolks, raw?  The yolks have almost the same amount of protein as the whites.

Interestingly, I just saw fertilized eggs for sale this morning at the Whole Foods Market here in Texas.  Whole Foods is a grocery store so the fertilized thing must be catching on.

"Cordain recommends eating only 6 eggs a month on a cooked-palaeolithic diet"   -TylerDurden

Wow.  I blew my limit in 2 seconds.  Is that cooked eggs or raw?

The eggs I am eating are raw yolk only, no whites.  I have done whole raw eggs with the whites in the past and it did not go well with my digestion.  My yolks are not cooked and they usually have 75 to 150 mg of DHA fat per yolk depending on where I buy them.  Today I am eating my yolks later on for dinner instead of the usual am to see what happens.  My energy today has been lacking and I am damn hungry right now, strong craving for the yolks even though chugging them makes me gag sometimes.

I am grouping everything into mono-meals which is working well for digestion and energy.  I think this is how our ancestors ate and animals ate - lots of one item per meal.  The only reason why I intentionally mixed foods before was to mix fats with plants so vitamins ADEK could be absorbed, and the raw egg yolks take care of all of that since yolks already have ADEK and fats together.

Raw meat is still off the menu for now.

Give me a few days to find the records of my flushes.  It's been a few years and I want to be accurate.  Yes, I took notes!  I'm such a geek.    ;)

CuredMeat -

I've done 6 liver flushes and several salt water flushes, which are more mechanical flushes to physically contract the gall bladder and flush out the liver and intestines of gallstones and parasites and mucous and that penny you swallowed in 1972.  Chemical cleanses are designed to kill the parasites and eggs, like taking wormwood or garlic or a marketed product like "Parastroy" which I have tried once.  I think marketed cleansing "products" are much less effective and more expensive than doing a cleanse from scratch, ie just buy the raw materials for the method you choose, ie a lot of raw garlic or raw ginger or black walnut tincture or the oil, epsom salt and juice for a liver flush.  I recommend the liver flush, but it doesn't always work and can exit the wrong end (vomit) instead of purging through the bowels.  Good times.

I prefer to do a general chemical flush of eating loads of raw garlic for a few days to kill the parasites, then physical flushes (a liver flush followed by a salt water flush).  Then recover by eating lots of probiotic things that replenish the good bacteria and enzymes.  I recommend examining whatever leaves your body so that you get an idea of what's going on.  I did get lots of gallstones and chaff.  I have seen a few things that looked like possibly candida or a liver fluke, but nothing conclusive.  It is fairly common for people to find flukes or worms after a flush so don't flip out if you do see something.  Some things I saw had definitely been inside me for a loooong time though, were not food from the past few days, and did not smell like anything that had come out of me before.  It's like cleaning the pipes in your home, if you have ever pulled a hairball out of your bathroom drain or scraped the pipes out and smelled it.

I did notice a change after the flushes, including the post liver flush "high" that a lot of people experience - a feeling of extreme well being and happiness which lasts a day or two.  I definitely felt cleaner and I didn't have to use deodorant or shower nearly as much after that.

I dunno if I answered your question, if not just ask...   ;)

This morning I chugged 24 raw organic cage free omega 3 DHA egg yolks for breakfast.  That's over 1400 calories and I didn't feel hungry until around dinner time when I had 5 raw organic apples, organic raisins, and raw cashews.  I am not sure how often I am going to be able to eat yolks like this.  For now I'm going to try once a day either in the am or pm.  I eat the yolks as a mono meal, leaving at least 5 hours until the next feeding so my fruit doesn't fight with my yolks.  Tomorrow I might try the fruit/nuts in the am and the yolks in the pm.  The DHA, iodine, choline, and cholesterol seem like a good thing to eat closer to pm to benefit the brain during sleep.  If that works out I could split it up, 12 yolks am, fruit/nuts lunch, 12 yolks pm.

The other day I tried a bag of dried baby anchovies from Malaysia.  These things were tiny, each about the size of a grain of rice.  I soaked them in water to get rid of the salt and to soften the buggers.  They tasted pretty good, like ramen noodles.  I assume that in being dried they were also cooked.

I still have a very strong urge to eat raw meat but I have not yet done so.  I still have some learning to do and perhaps there is a middle ground that I have not thought of yet.  Brains, bone marrow, and cartilage is currently my main interest yet my most difficult option at this point.  Slamming egg yolks is an ok compromise for now.  I have done parasite cleanses and liver flushes in the past and I'm still balancing the risks and rewards which seem about equal to me at this point.

Ok so I emailed a bunch of grass fed buffalo ranches and only one of them replied to my inquiry as to whether or not they sell the buffalo brains.  Only one replied, asking if I wanted the brains for consumption or tanning.  I replied saying that I wanted them for consumption but he never answered.   :'(

Back to the drawing board.  :D

ps - does anyone know what buffalo brains look like?  If they are used for tanning they must be dark brown or something huh?

Are there any fresh (dead) or frozen birds that are not grain fed, that I can buy at a local store?    My local store has frozen cornish game hens but I'm pretty sure they were not hunted down as typical wild game.  And are chickens "bottom feeders" like pigeons, which might make a "natural diet" not so clean?  I don't know what a wild chicken eats besides bugs, and I don't see farmers feeding bugs to chickens.

Seems like omega 6 oils from vegetables is called "the devil's fat" by some researcher...

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: Raw sterilized?
« on: October 09, 2008, 09:09:24 am »
Thanks for the suggestions.  Lemon juice sounds doable.  I'm not that concerned with bacteria.  I don't drink alcohol and I got rid of my freezer and  microwave.  At least my lifestyle is becoming more paleo...

My concern mainly lies with parasites - tapeworms, nematodes, prions, etc...

I would think that a salt water non-fish like octopus or squid would have the least chances of having a parasite that could set up camp in my bowels.

Dehydrating looks interesting.  It appears to be the oldest form of preservation.

I know, I know, gotta be raw raw raw lol...

Is there a way to sterilize meat without cooking it?

I'm not interested in anything irradiated.  I would like to first try some raw shrimp, or raw grass fed buffalo but I don't want to go full blown hard core balls to the wall raw right now.  I thought about soaking thin strips of meat in Everclear to sterilize and then light it to quickly burn off the alcohol.  I don't know if vinegar is very effective for sterilizing meat.

Thanks Satya!

And a good lookin family you all have here - a bunch of healthy lookin' well mannered folk.  Must go with the diet.  When I go to the dog park I can usually tell which dogs are on the BARF diet, and when I see little kids I can usually tell which brats, er, kids are on a crappy SAD diet.   -d

Thanks Craig!

I can definitely relate to the dental problems.  Worn enamel, receding gums.  I got rid of the toothpaste, mouth wash, radiation doses and my hack dentist.  I believe the human body can heal nearly any health problem if we just give it the raw materials it needs to function correctly.  I never consume tap water because of the fluoride, chlorine, and aluminum they put in it.  I brush with spring water and sometimes use extra virgin coconut oil and oil of oregano to brush and "oil pull"/swish.  I occasionally use 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide to swish.  Unfortunately my dentist put lots of silver (mercury) fillings in my teeth when I was younger which has been a long nightmare.  Still trying to get rid of them, so I can't chew as much as I want until I get them out.  I bought a dental scraper and now clean the tartar off my teeth every few weeks instead of paying a dental assistant to do it every six months.  I don't pay someone to wipe my ass every six months.

I've had an image in my mind of the perfect clean pearly white teeth of a wild wolf.  That wolf has replaced my dentist and my dental health has gotten better and better ever since.

Thanks boxcarguy.

I guess I'll add a bit about myself, in case anyone needs a way to fall asleep...

I'm a 30-something, currently an omnivore.  I was always a health nut, trying to figure out what the healthiest diet was.  Early on I thought milk and bagels and tuna were healthy.  Now I don't eat any of that.  I thought if it was in food it was safe because the government would surely not let bad things be put in food.  I thought fluoride was healthy.  I thought silver fillings were safe.  I thought fat was bad, what a mistake that was.  Got into greens, vegetables and tomatoes pretty hard, and developed joint/tendon pains (gout I think).  I tried vegetarian with eggs and fish but never could go completely off animal meat for long before my physical and mental health deteriorated.  I suspect I'll keep learning health until I die, but I'm narrowing everything down considerably.  Now I know what I want but there are challenges as grocery stores don't sell what I need and the powers that be are always putting up roadblocks to those of us who don't want a nanny government telling us what is best for our heath and what we can and can not grow/eat/buy/sell.

I guess one of the major points I have about all this, at least from my own experience and viewpoint, is that modern humans lost the guidance about health that was once passed down through the generations.  Now that government teaches us all what is healthy and safe, they literally poison us and our minds.  When we reach a certain point of bad health, usually age 30ish for most, we have to not only figure it out on our own but perhaps an even more difficult task - erasing what we have been taught our whole lives.  It truly amazes me how naive and brainwashed I have been at times and how society is so strongly against the lone person who eats a different healthy diet.  It doesn't bother me now but I can see how younger people have intense social pressure to eat the same crap that their peers eat - I think that is the tribe dynamic doing it's thing.

Most of the food out there is polluted or poisoned or not even food.  90% of the food in a supermarket is not real food and not something I would feed my dog.  People today feed on total garbage and then think it's normal for their teeth to need drilled out at 14 years old.  I won't even get into pharmaceuticals.  Health in the US is determined by the dollar and the dollar is just the modern survival of the fittest equivalent of brute force which our ancestors used to compete and survive.  Our ancestors were eliminated by bears and clubs and rocks, today we are eliminated by the dollar with junk food, pharmaceuticals, and poisons.

Nature always wins.  A quick look at nature, a wolve's perfect teeth and his diet, a happy bird and her lifestyle, a squirrel and his savings, can teach a lot about the human animal and the millions of years of programming we have inside us.  Humans and other animals need to work, complete tasks, compete, socialize, and are programmed to recieve the rewards of happiness and fulfillment to ensure survival.  Survival of the fittest will always rule humanity, oppression of weaker animals will always occur, and those who live in naiveness or denial will eventually be ruled by nature and it's laws.

Well now that must be why I can't find any brains.

What did Igor do in this situation?  Didn't the Scarecrow look for a brain?  Think think think...

Is it just cow/pig brains that are illegal?  I'm guessing buffalo brains and sheep brains are illegal too, and any other livestock.  Dolphin brains?  Already banned.  Whale brains?  Banned.  Hooker brains?  Banned.

Looks like this brain thing will be on hold for an undetermined amount of time.

I have a strong urge to eat brains :D  I have always had a strong urge to eat the raw squid at the fisherman wharf, or raw shrimp and lobster.  I think my self is trying to tell me something!

I currently have a 66% meat diet, mostly smoked wild Alaskan salmon until I can sort out this raw carnivore thing.

This guy I used to work with, eons ago around 1990, bought brains from the local grocery store that came in a plastic tub container.I assume it was pre-cooked.  He would put salt on it and eat it straight.  Kids would scream, women would faint.

Anyway, I have recently come to the conclusion that brains are probably one of the healthiest things you can eat.  Omega 3 DHA, cholesterol, nutrients.  I was tested and I had very low cholesterol levels, which is not good at all, probably worse than having too high cholesterol.  Brains might be cleaner than say, liver because (I assume) that animals have a blood brain barrier like humans do which keeps out some but not all of the contaminants.  Lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) kill and eat the organs first, but I think they don't eat the brains quickly just because it is easier to gut a zebra than break it's skull open.

I AM a conspiracy nut, so the word "prions" gives me extreme caution and suspicion at the same time.  In a world where the government tells you that all bad things are good and all good things are bad, I am trying to figure out a middleground like alternative sources of brains other than from cows or pigs, and maybe cooked but that supposedly doesn't kill prions.  Oh, and I can't even find brains at the grocery stores any more.  Were they all banned from a prion scare, the way tryptophan was banned right before Prozac was released to the market?  Maybe an oriental grocery market would have brains.  I ty to avoid eating anything from China because of contaminants.

So, any info on sources of brains or options other than cow/pig brains would be appreciated.

Awesome website by the way.
