One of the problems with the AV/Primal Diet is that AV always recommended one should eat way too much raw food each dya. Yes, raw food(especially of high quality) is very healing BUT raw food contains far more (properly absorbable) nutrients than cooked foods, overall, so that one does not need to eat as much as cooked-foodists need to on a daily basis. Plus, intermittent fasting(more or less akin to the feast-and-famine approach used by Palaeo hunter-gatherers) is also a good idea as fasting gives the body the time and the resources needed to heal itself properly. Cinstant digestion of food is taxing on the body, and it needs a rest here and there, too. Fasting is especially needed by cooked-foodists as it gives the body some respite from the constant daily onslaught of cooking-derived toxins, but even rawists benefit therefrom.
Fasting for 3 or 4 whole days also helps reset the body's immune-system and boosts production of new white blood cells.
Cutting out the dairy would be a good idea as well. There are many RVAFers who have various health problems from consuming raw dairy and I suspect that even some of those who claim 100% imunity are also experiencing (albeit hidden) more subtle, long-term issues therefrom.
I hate to recommend this, but it's a short-term solution for weight-loss, frequently used by many sportsmen before the weigh-in at a contest:- dry-fasting. I hear, though, it is rather a dangerous practice.
TylerDurden, thank you for your consistent assistance with our questions with RPD. It is appreciated.
Prior to discovering AV's Primal Diet I was doing intermittent fasting while on a standard Keto Diet (lots of cooked foods/fats). I feel better now eating more often throughout the day on the primal diet, but I do agree IF would be a good method for cutting weight. I used to also go on extended fasts, but always hated doing it. Perhaps I could try it again at some point since my body is much healthier now.
I am realizing the more accustom I become to eating raw meat, the less need I have to consume raw dairy. Although at this point I have a difficult time finding quality sources of raw fat other than raw cream.
Dry fasting will be kept in mind as a last resort
In addition to what Tyler said, you could do more cardio training or try high intensity interval training.
Thank you for the suggestion!
