Health / Re: Unable to digest anything
« on: March 29, 2019, 03:13:25 am »
If you only eat a small amount, especially meat the bowels will be very small could be multiple days, problem= if the stools are hard

A few things I would try:
- one meal a day/ eating in a shorter timeframe, daily fasting I have found is extremely beneficial
- just eating easy to digest foods until you are better for example: organic raw eggs (or very lightly cooked with the yolk still runny) with a little bit of raw honey if you like
- getting at least 6 grams of (organic if you can) seasalt per day
- avoiding dairy even if raw unless you are certain this does not give you issues

Primal Diet / Re: Constipation
« on: March 29, 2019, 03:00:44 am »
I can give you some extra insight as I did have this issue when switching from a shitty high fiber vegetarian diet to high animal product diet.

Everything needs to be on point in the body regarding HCL and bile, etc.

You have to have sufficient electrolytes, seasalt was important for me to fixing this at least 6 grams per day I would even go up to 10 grams, when switching from high carb diet especially.
Also what helps IMO is daily fasting to let the body heal, 1 meal per day.
I would avoid dairy if you can as others have said, have tried this many times, raw kefir (supposed to be easy to digest) would give me very hard stools, a little but of butter when cooking seems ok.

Also constipation= hard stools, not going to the toilet is not always constipation, for example when dieting for example there is not a lot of waste.
If you feel there is a lot of stuck stools in your colon I would do a water enema.

I don't think it's possible to get cavities if you are getting all the nutrients in, so I would say any teeth related issues are due to nutritional deficiencies... I just brush my teeth now with the brush no toothpaste.

I have experimented multiple months brushing teeth without toothpaste, if the diet has enough nutrients no cavities are to be expected but the drawback to using no toothpaste is more tartar buildup. Which means more frequent dental visits to remove the tartar. So I would opt for flossing 1x a day and brushing 2x a day with a little bit (don't need much) of a low fluoride/ no fluoride toothpaste. The small amount of foaming of the toothpaste really helps break up that plaque. I also have found great benefits to oral health by using raw honey.

Update: I find raw honey mixed in with mineral water works really well, also added bonus for oral health and breath.

Cucumber should be at least an hour before or after eating to prevent indigestion, tomato can be had anytime in smaller amounts.

Yep I pretty much read everything AV said about the juices in his books, his mineral water perspective is very interesting. A bit of a coincidence that vegetable police just made a video about how he feels that mineral water is not hydrating him that well :p

First impressions are really positive with using cucumber juice and tomatoes while not drinking any mineral water, just a small amount of the cucumber juice does a lot to reduce my thirst, I only need a little each time.

I'm pretty anti-vegetable myself ( I eat 0 vegetables) but I'm open to experimentation to see how my body reacts to it.. AV's views are interesting for sure, I mean he would not have this view on water without having experimenting heavily himself also with the veg juices + his experience with his patients. Without having tried it yet I do agree with him already that raw fats satisfy my thirst much better than drinking mineral water (throat stays thirsty I can keep drinking that stuff as much as I want).

In one of his videos AV mentions some tribe who during their travels avoided drinking water but did resort to sucking the juice from certain veggies, if anyone has some reading material on this would be nice.

Definitely going to try it when I get some kind of mixer/ juicer, any nightshade issues with the tomato ? I see AV recommends it a lot in his book

Primal Diet / Hydration mineral water versus veg juices

Hi,

I can follow AV a bit on what he says on water, when I drink mineral water it does not fully satisfy thirst and thirst quickly returns.. when I eat some raw yolks with honey for example it hydrates much better.

My question is if the vegetable juices (cucumber, celery, zucchini, etc.) AV recommends satisfy your thirst better than mineral water ? I have not been able to try the vegetable juices yet.

Primal Diet / Re: Best natural shaving cream?
« on: December 07, 2018, 02:52:19 am »
Tried the coconut cream/ oil, it works ok but the cleanup is not worth it as everything gets sticky and the hairs get stuck everywhere on your skin.

I will just be sticking to hot water preshave+ some organic  least toxic shaving cream pretty much like the olive oil based one I'm using now.

The raw egg shampoo is really good, a lot better than I expected, cleans my hair and also gives it a nice shine. I do it weekly now for sure.. I don't use any soap or toothpaste pretty much, just the shaving I'm still figuring out if there is a natural alternative, I use a pretty non toxic olive oil based cream at the moment.

From looking at the we want to live website it seems AV recommends/ uses coconut cream and or kefir for shaving

Hi I was wondering what you guys recommend for shaving?
If I recall correctly AV talks about coconut oil in one of his videos, anyone have experience with this ?

Tried the raw eggs shampoo recently that he recommends, very effective.

I find raw fats to be very hydrating like meat fat or egg yolks, watermelon also. Seems like a side effect of the accutane that people have, that stuff seems really toxic.

Does anyone know the science behind tooth decay and tooth yellowing? I'm curious to know:

1. What is the chemical/mechanical process that causes teeth to develop cavities? Is it something that bacteria are releasing when digesting certain foods which erodes the tooth? If so, which foods? Or is it something else?

2. same question concerning yellowing of teeth, which seems to be an independent process.

3. how to battle tooth decay and tooth yellowing the paleo way? Avoid certain foods, eat more of others, brush with some specific substance, don't brush with other specific substances...?

I don't think it's possible to get cavities if you are getting all the nutrients in, so I would say any teeth related issues are due to nutritional deficiencies... I just brush my teeth now with the brush no toothpaste.

If someone drinks a lot of raw milk and blood and tolerates that well probably no need, I just stick to mineral water like Evian but I drink way less than I did when I still ate a standard diet

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: Overeating
« on: November 25, 2018, 08:40:51 pm »
I agree, overeating and counting calories makes me feel worse and messes with digestion. I'm just going to eat when hungry.. Also still looking for good organic fats, found a organic butcher who is saving the fat for me so hopefully that works out. Grainfed meat tastes pretty bad to me (raw).

I would say worse than most cooked starch, very difficult to neutralize the anti nutrients.

For constipation issues I would only stick to raw meat and raw eggs until you are better, those should be able to digest the best.

Primal Diet / Re: A1 versus A2 dairy, any difference?

Update experimentation with raw goat milk: I did have my hopes up and I'm sure the A2 can make the difference for a lot of people and it is worth trying but for me personally I should stay away from dairy.

Hmmm well raw (animal) foods digest better due to the enzymes not being destroyed so I don't see why it would not apply to milk ?

I might have found a goat farm 30 mins ride, if I decide to try the raw goat milk I will update how it went

Checked some forums whereby mothers had success giving their kids A2 goat milk for example for fixing the constipation in their toddlers (when they were on cow milk) so there are for sure success stories

Yeah, still interested in reading about the A1/A2 though, 'devil in the milk' seems to be a book that discusses it which I might check out

I don't think 'lactose intolerance' can be used as an argument though for raw milk, from what I understand the enzyme lactase should digest it for you in raw milk.

Primal Diet / Re: A1 versus A2 dairy, any difference?

It's not that I don't want to experiment further but the symptoms are way too bad digestion wise with the A1 raw milk/ raw cheese/ and even raw butter I am finding, those things just make my stools hard as rock. And these things were already difficult to find organic and raw. Probably goat dairy would be easiest to find but like I said the risk of bad symptoms would just give me stress while I am already feeling the best I have ever felt on my current diet without dairy. I do recognize of course that dairy has a lot of good nutrition if you are able to digest that stuff.

Exercise / Bodybuilding / Re: Bulking with animal products versus carbs?
« on: October 15, 2018, 04:43:57 pm »
Awesome, yeah I have the same reaction to spices maybe even salt it does not really give me any benefit just adds more taste to the meal I guess. That's a lot of organs :p I try to get 1 to 2 livers or so in per week, I think my vitamin stores are pretty good now after eating this way for a while. I find it's way easier to get in the calories with the raw animal products, the cooked animal products fill me up quickly and I have to stop so I do a mix of raw and cooked.

Yeah I see, probably not even worth trying for myself. Those that can handle dairy are lucky, adds some nice variety..
