Health / Husband's health
« on: July 20, 2021, 03:03:36 am »
Hey everybody,

First of all: my apologies if my writing isn't flawless, English is not my native language :)
My husband has been paleo for the last 9 years. He is extremely happy with this lifestyle, because it makes so much sense to him and he loves the food that comes with this lifestyle.

I've also been paleo for 6 years (we started together), but it just wasn't for me. I kept struggling and felt so weak everytime I cheated. I still support paleo and I still think it makes a lot of sense.

But here is my dilemma:

I'm worried of my husband's health. He has xanthelasmas (fat accumulation) under his eyes, bad breath and has been suffering from an abscess for 9 years (he was operated, but the abscess doesn't seem to heal).

He eats a lot of meat (at least 0.4 kg - 0.9 lb a day) and preferably pork meat. He doesn't really like lean meat. He doesn't exercise and likes his beers in the weekends. He is not overweight and is very comfortable in his own skin. He is 35 years old and he never gets sick, never has head aches, always had a good defecation.

I'm afraid his body can't process all the fat he is taking in. I know that fat is good, but I have my doubt with all this pork meat. My fear is that his arteries get clogged and he'll have a heart attack.

I've mentioned this to him before, but he disagrees. All the studies and articles he's been reading say that fats in your body can't do harm and that the whole cholestrol-thing is deprecated. So visiting a normal doctor won't work, because they have different visions on the theories.

My question for you is: do you think my fear is plausible? And do you perhaps know some scientific studies/articles that I can show him that can convince him to change his eating pattern?

For the record: it is not my goal to get him of his paleo lifestyle, I support this. I only think it should be more balanced.

Thanks in advance and kudo's for reading te whole story  :) ;)
