I used to sit zazen with this guy (Chinese) who would talk about his tooth aches. My conclusion is its hard to connect spiritually with a constant toothache or other physical distractions. Even though I've convinced myself anyway that the spiritual traditions of 'leaver' type societies have more meaning for me, if someone wants to believe that for them killing animals is nor necessary or is bad for them...who am I to say definitively what type of 'health' has more value in this life. Prior to modernity the veg diets and lifestyles of China and India were not so detrimental, so this might set an artificial standard for people trying to uphold the same values today.
Ayurveda advises against eating mushrooms.interesting... what does it say?
That book by Rupert Sheldrake re "7 Experiments..." has the most fascinating look at some of the fascinating ways that scientists indulge in quackery, deception, unscientificism and general self-serving stuff (like the rest of us) that essentially makes the term "scientific" laughable.Pretty interesting stuff, i think i will get the book. Also i rememeber doing science experiments in school, we would never get the expected result - so used to fake it. So even as kids science taught us to fake lab results to match theory. So when we reached college and did the same - it did not look like forgery, as we were conditioned since childhood.
Then he wades into the fact of the observer affecting the outcome. Then the difficulty and unlikelihood of most scientific stuff being ever checked out by peers, then the business of being afraid of anyone seeing their "lab notes".
Asian foodmarkets usually have an extensive selection of fresh seafood. Lots of wildcaught products too. There are several in my area.Dima,
But what about people in the Palaeolithic era who lived in the Arctic where it is 6 months night?i believe excess of it is stored in the body, so i guess they would be accumulating in the summer.
New York, being on the coast, should have easy access to cheap raw seafood.
AFAIK there isn't much vitamin D in fat of the land mammals.strangely, i did not do well on blue ice. carlson vit-d drops seem to work for me.
Duck egg yolks are quite good, as they contain 6 time more D than chicken ones.
But my main source is Blue Ice - 2000 IU a day
If you want something fun, a proper adult hula-hoop is fantastic. I often do it whilst watching TV and i barely notice I'm exercising.LOL
Another great one is a small rebounder - again great for watching TV. In fact, if I'm getting excited watching some sort of telly-crud like America's Next Top Model, or The Biggest Loser, I can bounce around like a maniac, shouting insults at the crazy judges/contestants.
Brussels sprouts taste foul when cooked, and are a notorious part of really awful boarding-school-dinners. I know they are pretty tasteless when raw, as I foolishly ate some thawed ones a few times as a child. Egg-plants? They are always cooked, I seriously doubt they are that pleasant to taste when raw, either. I know for sure that raw lettuce could never be a solid staple as it's pretty tasteless unless one adds lots of sauces onto it(adding sauces is not very Instincto a habit!).The indian(hindi) word for eggplant is "baigan" derived from "be-guna" - which means "without merit", basically dont bother eating.
What it boils down to is that unsuitable non-palaeo foods like rice usually need to be cooked and have sauces added to them to make them more palatable. But the whole point of Instincto is to avoid all processing.
