General Discussion / Re: What rawpalaeo foods are you eating right now?
« on: December 23, 2010, 06:18:09 am »
Wow, maybe your body needed a lot of somthing that was in the chicken  -\ raw chicken honestly grosses me out though, its the only raw meat that I won't really eat unless I really had to....don't worry you probably won't get any salmonella overload if you don't dwell on it too much, I have a feeling the more we worry the more chance something will make us sick....sometimes...

I didn't get sick. I don't know why I ate it. I wanted it, but it didn't taste good and the fatty parts made me gag a little, but I still wanted it. I wanted to eat the bones too, but that wasn't happening  ;) Chicken in general grosses me out. The running joke my whole life has been "I don't derive pleasure from eating flightless birds." Which is true. The one and only time I've had serious illness from animal food was from some cooked chicken from a chain fast food joint. It was the first animal product I'd eaten in a few years. I got violently ill, I thought it was mainly due to the fact that I had been vegan, but every one of my roommates became ill too.
So now I very rarely eat birds other than quail- taste aversion conditioning is a mighty powerful thing. I may eat some livers tonight. I've been ruminating and craving them for long enough, I suppose it's time to act. I smelled some earlier and I salivated. I'll probably just swallow some whole and be done with it.

I ended up eating almost half a raw chicken last night. I don't know why I did that, I don't like chicken , cooked or not, and I'm crossing my fingers that I don't get sick. I was like a demon possessed and it just looked so good. I really hope I don't fall ill.

General Discussion / Re: Who bolts, who chews, who chews thoroughly?
« on: December 20, 2010, 10:58:49 pm »
I generally tear meat off with my teeth and roll it around to taste it and then swallow. Not a lot of chewing. The only things I chew thoroughly are nuts. And pumpkin seeds.

Yeah, Lotte Berk was what I did when I was too fat and out of shape to run or walk for exercise. I was still relatively flexible, and it was easy on my ankles and hips. It really did wonders for my butt muscles too.

It worked like a charm at the family get together today. It helps that a lot of my extended family members have resorted to gastric bypass, so no one really eats much.

sabertooth- Getting diagnosed with celiac disease was really what made me question what agribusiness and the american govt tell us- the food pyramid and the like. When learned how prevalent CD actually is, it really made me think about the food guidelines and most RDAs as a scam. I really felt lied to.
Donrad- I was breastfed until I was about 3, that's all the milk I need  ;D

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: Your experience with DATES?

I love grapes with seeds. It's so fun to collect a bunch in my cheeks and spit them out. It seems a lot of times though I accidentally buy the seedless kind and I get disappointed.
Dates are also fun because I like carrying the pits around in my mouth for a little while, rolling them around a bit before I spit them out. I like the texture on my gums and cheeks.

goodsamaritan- I am most definitely not a zero carb type. I have had hella fat malabsorption issues in the past- I was hoping that maybe it wasn't a psychological thing, because of my previous intestinal issues. I don't think it is, but it seems as if I do better when I keep the animal fat to a minimum. I guess I'll keep doing what I'm doing, eat it when I find it attractive, feed it to the dog when I don't. :)

Thanks! I like suet and marrow, and I do like the taste of fat generally, I just never want it.

General Discussion / Anyone else have issues with fat?

I hope I posted this in the right section.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has any kind of experience or advice to offer. I always prefer lean muscle meat over any other kind of AF. I'm fully aware that humans need to consume fat, but most of the time I want nothing to do with it. It turns me off, sometimes makes me nauseated. Occasionally I'll take some tough fat/connective junk off of muscle meat and gnaw on it, just carry it around and suck and chew on it like gum- I just wont swallow solid pieces. I'm just wondering if anyone else has the same sort of aversion. Sometimes I'm afraid I'm not eating enough fat- normally I can tell because I'll start craving marrow and suet, but I don't know if I'm starving myself to trigger those cravings.
Thoughts?

General Discussion / Re: Eating carnivores?

actup90- where do you live?
There's a few coyotes loose in my area. Between the hawks and the coyotes, I have one chicken left. :(
I wish they'd lift the restrictions on hawks here, they've made a big comeback, and are becoming nuisance animals. I would definitely eat some small portion of a hawk. They've eaten so many of my quail and chickens- I feel that I'm owed.

I've always been curious about carnivorous land animals. I wonder what they would taste like, how they would make me feel. I've always had tremendous respect for predators, I don't know if that would turn me off if I had the opportunity to try one. Oh questions. Funny side note- I've always had an unnecessarily intense trichinosis phobia. I wouldn't handle pork products for years.

I occasionally will eat cooked food (mostly in family social situations), I'm actually paying for it this week. I mistook some pork ribs for beef ribs at a family holiday function a few days ago. I ate a few bites of the cooked pork and within 15 minutes became ill and have been vomiting regularly for a few days. Happens every time I eat pork. I can generally tolerate cooked beef okay. All I've been able to stomach since are some pumpkin seeds and beet. I just ate about 3 oz of some chopped up fatty beef, I'll see how that settles. I guess at the next family function, I'll just have to tell everyone I'm on a diet (we have a lot of compulsive dieters in my family), and maybe they'll leave me be. :)

I love dates, but I'll only eat two or three at the most. They are so incredibly sweet to me. I'll take them if my energy wanes, or to hold me over until I can eat a meal.

I think that tonsils are supposed to shrink as we get older. I don't know if they vanish or not.

No matter how fresh the fish is, I find the skin normally has a really strong odor that I don't like. I just can't bring myself to eat it.

haha Sabertooth- I can agree somewhat. Sometimes I don't know what angle I want to approach a problem from. The inconsistency in my problem solving methodology is irritating sometimes, but I suppose it's nice to have a full arsenal.

22
I knew that was coming. I wonder what it would taste like?

23
I would give maybe a pinky finger to be able to eat bones. I like the marrow, but I always want to chew up the bone and swallow it too.

Why have I never heard of this problem? I mean, I've heard of thrush, and ladies' yeast infections, but I've never experienced either- I thought it was mostly whining and moaning or that it came from eating lots of sugar. Can someone provide a good link? My curiosity has been aroused.

My brother in law just had his removed at age 31. He couldn't eat solid food for 2 weeks, and he was in an extreme amount of pain. I hope mine don't crap out on me.
