« on: October 02, 2014, 11:51:48 am »
Very interesting article. When you stop and think about it. It makes a lot of sense. Energy and nutrition wise. I've been eating raw for well over 3 years now. I know what he's saying when he talks about loosing weight and energy on a raw meat/fat diet. It's true. I can gorge myself on raw meat and fat and still loose weight.

I'll be honest. If I don't workout with resistance weights. I'd be skin and bones! I think there is something to this cooked food argument. Problem is, "almost" everybody eats raw food on this site at one form or another. But, there's also a lot of people on this site that do eat cooked food too.

Plus, this is just my opinion here. Raw meat/fat doesn't give the energy boost that I expected. Granted, I enjoy eating raw meat and fat. But, I'm wondering if I should change it up and try something new. I have a tendency to try things in stages and see how my body responds. I personally have found that Raw Meat is not this wonder food that I was hoping for. I find it rather laughable when I hear of postings of a possible cure all with some of you. Almost like you're hoping for raw meat/fat to cure all your problems and issues. But, to each their own. I'm not here to judge or be critical. All of us are on our own separate journeys here.  :)

But, I am always open to new ideas and thoughts. I just thought I'd put my two cents worth in the pot. Great topic (finally).

I realize that most people on this site will disagree. I expect that! You have to be open to ideas in this world in order to accept them. My mind is always open to that! Peace.

Anyway, I'm curious to learn of any raw recipe books, blogs, lists or whatever form might exist.

Seriously? Recipe Book for RAW PALEO FOODS? All you need is a little salt to taste and that's it! If that! LOL. This isn't the cooking channel! But, to each his own. Why don't you experiment, and write your own book. KEEP IT SIMPLE.

You should be fine! Make sure it's the best available meat quality that you can find and afford. It doesn't always have to be "Grass Fed"! If you want Omega 3's than eat fish every once in a while. Don't stress, just keep it RAW!   :)

Just picked up some Fresh Wild Sockeye Salmon from Alaska! Delicious!  :P :)

so why isn't everybody on RVAF then ?

years ago i went on a steroid forum and they assured me taking steroids was safe.  so i started doing them and followed all the precautions and did everything the right way and still ran into all sorts of problems.  there is a reason why every guy is not on steroids - that stuff is not safe.

i want to believe you, but i no longer believe anything without a proof.

Are you serious or are you just trolling? You actually believed somebody who told you steroids are safe online, and you just believed them? WOW. I think we ALL know steroids are dangerous and bad for your health.  There are so many other treads regarding parasites, why bother the rest of us with this pointless thread. Do your research and make up your own mind. That's why God gave us a brain and free will. If your worried about parasites (which like GS said are all around us) maybe you should live in a glass bubble. Nobody's going to hold your hand on each and every step. Please search the website. You will find all, if not most of your answers already answered for you. Good luck in your journey.  BTW most people on this site know the truth about the RPD. The proof is in the pudding! I rest my case.  :)

Sardines are great! But, unless you live near a Whole Foods market you may be out of luck. That's where they sometimes carry them FRESH (at least out here in Southern California). I wouldn't go out of my way for them. Stick with Black Cod or Wild Salmon. They are both loaded with Omega 3's and are much easier to find. Inger has a recipe for Sardines if i'm not mistaken. I believe if memory serves me right, she blends them in  a vitamix or something, then consumes them as a shake. I'd reach out to her! She's the expert when it comes to stuff like that! Cheers.

Hey Chris. I'd just like to apologize. I know you, like everyone on this forum means well. Even if some times you come off a little strong.

You don't have to apologize. Contrary to a few peoples beliefs, this was not a personal attack on you. It's no secret that you suffer from Schizophrenia. Heck, you have a journal dedicated to it. Let me explain a few things about this site that bothers me. It's trolls that aren't ready to fully commit, or partially commit. People that need their hands held and need encouragement mentally and educationally. This diet is NOT for everybody. I've had issues with posters in the past about expecting this diet to cure all that ails them. A "cure all diet". I think that sends the wrong message. But, for some reason a lot of the senior posters who kind of run this site encourage it.  -v. I think it sends the wrong message. People are going to look at this community and diet as a bunch of blood thirsty mentally F@#$%^ up people. I don't want that!

This diet is a  lifestyle. Not some sort of freak/show diet. I'm not trying to pick on you, even though it seems like I am. But, I've read so many crappy, time wasting, $#$% on this site it blows my mind. I actually left this site for a while due to exactly that. Maybe, I don't need to be on this site, or I shouldn't be on this site anymore. I feel personally that for the most part this site brings nothing to the table for me. I think I'm starting to realize that.

I wish you well in controlling your Schizophrenia. I really do. It's funny, because there are a lot of people on this site who think this diet is a cure all. It's a great foundation. But, a cure all? That's stretching it. Nutrition, like I've posted before is only one part of the human condition. Mentally, emotionally, love, ect will never be solved just because you eat raw! IMO.

When I first joined I felt a community. I've meet some great people along the way. Plus, there are some extremely smart and intelligent people in this forum. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that. But, I don't like where this forum is going. I think I'm going to check out and go this on my own.

I wish you well and no hurt feelings. Negativity doesn't do anybody any good. I'd like to checkout in a positive vibe. Peace.

Hello Christopher,

I quickly glanced at your new  book last night. I was very impressed with all the information you provided. I have a passion for nutrition as well. Nothing really stands out that I haven't heard/read before. Not to take away from your book at all. But, you do come across as a great researcher that is open minded to new and old ideas! You seem to put a lot of different books and ideas and mold information together, and I think that is the strength of your book. It's funny that you would post at the "Raw Paleo Diet" website. But, I'm sure you have done your research, and found out that there are a lot of people who don't follow a "RAW" animal diet, or who are not quite ready for such a diet. I feel these people could benefit from the suggestions in your book. There's a lot of them here!  -\. Some of the posters on this site have no clue about the "RAW PALEO"diet. They think it's a "cure all"! I try and tell people who listen, that nutrition is a foundation. You can build something on a solid foundation. But, you can't expect to eat a raw steak and it's going to cure all your ails in your life  l). Lets be honest, this diet (RAW PALEO) will never go mainstream. There's too many barriers to overcome (in our society). Your book is right at a sweet spot where most people can accept. Cold processing oils, raw fats, even grass fed butter. Not to mention grass fed meats as well.

I will add that most people on this site have no clue about nutrition. It's not to surprising because most Americans have no clue at all. Not to say every poster is American (not the case). We have a lot of educated, very smart people on this site world wide. But, you get my point.

I did enjoy your book, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to live/experience a healthier lifestyle. I would never encourage someone to go Raw Paleo cold turkey. I think diets are an evolution, where one diet can lead to another. I really think a majority of people should take notice of your book, and its research and start there. In that regard I would endorse your nutritional book.

I'd like to add that, I didn't wake up one morning, and decide to eat raw meat and fats. A little over 14 years ago I had no clue about nutrition. I'm still learning to be honest with you. There are so many books and theories out there, most people hardly know where to start. Just like writing a nutritional book doesn't happen overnight. Learning about nutrition doesn't happen overnight either. It's a process. I like that you kept your ideas and examples simple. I think most people can follow your recommendations, and incorporate them into their lives. Nutrition doesn't have to be brain surgery. But, you need to understand a basic good foundation. Once you achieve that, you can start incorporating your own ideas and experiment more.

I'd like to wish you luck on this book and its future success! Thanks for sharing your book and its information with the members of this site. I'm sure this book will help out a lot of people!

There's also the possibility of ferments not doing so well because they need an aerobic environment, and realistically a large portion of any jar of high meat will be virtually unexposed to air.  I wonder what it would be like if it was hung as it would be to make aged meat, only in conditions that would make high meat (ie. the temperature).

"There's also the possibility of ferments not doing so well because they need an aerobic environment,"  l) Uh? Nice vocab. lol

Do you actually read these links, or do you just like to post for the sake of posting? Suggestion: Read the article than comment on it here (your opinion), than give the link. GEEZ!!!!!!!!!! :D

Then, the correct word would be then, not than. If you want to live in a bubble then do that. If you want to avoid tuna then do it. If you have a problem with food from California then avoid it. The correct way to use than in a sentence would be "I'd rather eat non-California produce than California produce."

Thank you for the advice.

You aren't going on one of your schizophrenia rants again are you? Go have another serving of raw liver and brains. Hopefully that will bring you back down to Earth. It's funny, because most of the crap you post is technically "crap". lol . Maybe that's your schizophrenia coming out. I don't know? I'm not a doctor. Hopefully you don't play your own doctor at home. Do you hear voices when you read posts? What sets you off? Misspelled words, grammar, cooked foods, people in general, opinions that you don't agree with? Just trying to figure you out bro? I would advise you eat something first before you post. It "might" help you with your thoughts? On second hand, maybe not. -\ I have a suggestion for you, and this might fit you better that DaBoss88. Schizo88. Just thought I'd throw the 88 in there. I don't know why you'd use that? I mean how many DaBoss's are there in this forum? hehehe

Look, this is all bullshit scaremongering. Radioactivity of the kind  at Fukushima would long ago have become diluted in the world's oceans to the point where it was quite harmless.

Agreed! If you want to live in a bubble than do that. Posting this crap is like yelling fire in a dark theatre. deboss88 all you state is Tuna. Hey buddy, it migrates throughout the ocean. If you want to avoid tuna than do it. You should be avoiding Tuna anyway's! Tuna is a predatory fish that is high in the food chain. We all know we should limit our intake on these fish due to the high mercury in their flesh. I live in Southern California, and if you have an issue with food from California than avoid it and eat food you trust. BTW deboss88, go check yourself for radioactivity. I bet you're radioactive like everything else on this planet is!  l)

I was unaware there was so much info on fluoride being so toxic. When I originally eliminated it from my drinking water I did it just because I thought it was "a bad chemical." However this website shows there's a lot more to it than it just being "bad." The science actually shows it's neuro-toxic and has many other negative effects.

Where have you been? Who doesn't know about the fluoride water, or for that matter chlorine?

Going barefoot is a transition, it requires diligence.  You have a more intimate connection with the earth.

The first person I thought of was Kody Lundin. He is on a survival show on the Discovery Channel called Duel Survival. He ALWAYS goes barefoot no matter what the terrain or circumstances are (within reason of course). He explains that he has a better connection to the Earth. Just like you said.  :) .

Cooked meat benefits:
-Tougher cuts of meat that you can't chew through become softer after cooking. This is the biggest benefit I can think of.

I use scissors to cut up all of my meat into little bitty pieces. Tough or not. I try to take off as much of the meat/fat/ect. as I can. The one good thing about eating RAW meat is you don't have to chew it up that much at all. Just down the hatch.  :P

Hey everyone. I plan to start exercising more.

I have resistance bands (Terrel Owen's Bodylastics).

I also have Air alert III, a workout routine to jump higher.

I play lots of basketball. So I'm planning to start exercising with those.

Does anyone have a suggestion of how much to eat per day?

I'm all fruits, veggies, raw honey, and raw beef, calf liver, salmon.

I've been doing about 3 oz of various meats plus certain fruits, rarely veggies. Some regular foods too since I'm tight on money.

Your over thinking it. You don't need to add anything to your diet unless your body craves more chow. If you eat well and workout, there's nothing more to it. BTW bands suck, just like exercise equipment machines in the gym. Use body resistance exercises and free weights.

21

I bought some bison thymus, bison testicles, bison spleen, bison adrenals, Beef liver, and Beef heart and tongue.

Sounds like a feast! Personally, you'll be fine if you just eat organ meats. Listen to your body. If you grave them, than eat them. When you loose the taste for them, then move to something else. Organ meats are much more nutritious that muscle meats.  :)  I'd add some good quality grass fed fats as well. Enjoy!

Good Advise. Stick to whole foods. Don't waste your money!

Welcome. Start by cleaning up your diet first. I take it, since you have been cruising the site for a while, you've picked up hints on what to eat and how to eat it. There is NO set diet or rules. Everybody does what works for them. You need to adjust and see what works for you. This may take some experimenting and time. Listen to your body, and let your body drive you to what it wants and craves. Throw out all processed foods, and anything that reads like a paragraph or requires a PHD to understand its ingredients. Start with one step at a time. Give yourself time! Don't expect results overnight. Oh yeah, this diet is not a cure all. Don't think this diet will cure all your woes. Food is only one part of the human condition. You'll have to work on your other issues in your life as well. Nutrition is always a great place to start, where you can build the foundation for everything else. Good Luck on your journey. Like all good things in life. Nothing comes easy. Stay positive, stick with it, and listen to your instincts.  :)

So, has anyone tried using urine on your skin before?
Is anyone willing to try this with me and post your results (anonymously is fine)?

I haven't peed on myself lately (LOL). I don't think it's the next cure all that we've all been waiting for. But, I've heard all the positives that you have read too. If you do try it, I'd dilute it in some moisturizer, perfume, cologne, ect. Oh yeah, you might want to use it fresh. I wouldn't pee in your shampoo bottle and use it for the next month. hint hint. hehehe  ;)

Be a trailblazer and leader and let us know your results. Hopefully it doesn't effect your love life.  :) hehehe

General Discussion / Re: Two questions! (buying and washing)
« on: January 23, 2014, 03:20:01 pm »
I always wash my produce with just faucet water. I'd personally stay away from those produce washes, that promises to wash all the pesticides and waxes off. My rule of thumb is to stay away from the 12 most toxic fruits and vegetables:

Dirty Dozen: The 12 to buy organic (in order of pesticide load, apples being the worst offenders).

1. Apples
2. Celery
3. Sweet bell peppers
4. Peaches
5. Strawberries
6. Imported nectarines
7. Grapes
8. Spinach
9. Lettuce
10. Cucumbers
11. Domestic blueberries
12. Potatoes

Clean Fifteen: Buying organic is more sound environmentally, but if you can't, these options are less contaminated and don't pose as much of a health threat as do the dozen above.

1. Onions
2. Sweet corn
3. Pineapples
4. Avocado
5. Cabbage
6. Sweet peas
7. Asparagus
8. Mangoes
9. Eggplant
10. Kiwi
11. Domestic cantaloupe
12. Sweet potatoes
13. Grapefruit
14. Watermelon
15. Mushrooms

If you go organic than you can throw out both of the lists above. Always buy fresh! The fresher the better! Word to the wise. Don't sweat the little things in life. Life is way too short. KIS (keep it simple) and you'll be fine. Meat and Fats are another animal.
