http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/8335986/Eat-less-red-meat-Government-scientists-warn.html

"Scientists believe a pigment found in red meat damages the DNA of cells lining the digestive system – and DNA damage is one of the first signs of cancer. Burning meat is also thought to increase the risks. In addition, some studies suggest that preservatives used in processed meat could increase risks. "

All 4 episodes are on Torrent sites. I watched the 1st one and it was awesome, you can see a tribe from Indonesia drying whale meat, one whale feeds a tribe of 30 people for 2 months. Dried meat must have been a big part of paleo men's diet.

Are raw tubers considered a source of starch? That's raw paleo in my book.

Quebec is also 'cracking down' on raw cheese makers by imposing stricter regulations and more inspections. Many have stopped making raw cheese for that reason. Raw milk is still illegal everywhere in Canada. No one cares about those issues except weirdos like us  -[

General Discussion / Re: Raw fish organs

The wild-caught salmon (from Alaska) sold in supermarkets here, the organs and head have been removed. I can't stand the taste of Mackerel organs, they taste so bitter, i doubt other fish organs are much better?

I assume (?) that farting is not an experience shared by those on 100 percent RZC diets?

When i'm RZC, i will occasionally fart when constipated, like if i haven't had a BM in 4+ days.

Can you elaborate on your disastrous 'raw zero carb beef' phase? Did you get ill because the beef was grain-fed or because you were not eating any carb?

How is your diet today different than it was during that phase, i mean what do you think is the one change in your diet that made the most difference?

Tyson is not a good example i think, he was only dominant in his early 20s, he went downhill after that really fast, got kinda chubby too. Pacquiao would be a much better example.

Nick Diaz, elite MMA fighter, said recently he eats raw food as much as possible. He is a vegan.

Jon Fitch is almost a vegan, eats meat twice a week. Is also into raw food  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0KRYBEVmes

Both said they feel better after ditching meat. Those 2 fighters are among the best 20 in the world and get tested for steroids before their fights. Clearly, cooked vegan does work for some people.

About 3 billion people in Asia live almost exclusively on grains, they seem to be doing fine for the most part.

I've lived both in China and Taiwan(I will be going back to China in March btw).

Is grass-fed meat hard to get in China and Taiwan?

PaleoPhil,

how do you do on leafy greens? I've been experimenting with them recently as i also get constipated on RZC and they really help. You could also try liquid chlorophyll which also reduced my constipation. I take 2 teaspoon of chlorophyll a day and eat a little bit of parlsey, onion and spinach or lettuce with meat and constipation is greatly reduced and i don't get candida-like symptoms as i would get if i were eating fruit instead of veggies. Well, i'm probably eating no less than 15 or 20g of carbs a day.

Well,I happen to be Buddhist myself and most of my friends in that circle are vegetarians. They don't use the term vegan. They are mostly Chinese or Taiwanese. They go to veggie restaurants and all that good stuff. There's a big "organic" vegetarian movement right now in Taiwan.
My take on it is to respect the animals I eat and to thank them for my health.Hopefully the animals will get something in return in their next life ;) But,to get other Buddhists to think the way I do is again,a tough sell.

I was told by a mainland Chinese that the concept of vegetarianism basically doesn't exist in mainland China. I don't know about Taiwan as it is a very different culture than China.

General Discussion / Re: Non-mutant fruits and vegetables
« on: January 22, 2011, 04:43:41 am »
Arguing that raw fruits are not suitable in a few cases means nothing when, quite clearly, cooked foods like grains or tubers causefar more problems for people.

few cases? Go to the candida forums on Curezone and Healthboards which are probably the health-related forums that get the most traffic. Ask them what happens to their candida symptoms and health in general when they raw eat fruit, even in small amount. Then ask them how do they on cooked grains/tubers, the answers you'll get will contradict your statement. Maybe I'll do the exercise later.

Rice ideally needs to be cooked

If a wild grain hasn't been dried, it can be eaten raw. Why is it not considered as paleo as any wild fruit/veggie? It will have moisture, water content, etc just like any other raw food. If it's raw, wild and edible, why would it be considered less paleo? Who's to say paleo men never ate em (in small quantities of course). I'm asking these questions because it seems like what is considered RP or not is an arbitrary opinion.

Another example would be nuts, i've had freshly picked almonds and they are nothing like dried almonds but in most people's eyes, dried nuts are still RP. Why are they held to a different standard than, say, something like pemmican, both have been dried/cooked. It seems arbitrary again! (My point wasn't that Pemmican should be considered RP but that dried nuts are not RP using the same logic).
