This is the only instruction I've seen on making raw mead:

How To Easily Make Your Own Mead
I didn't have good luck with it, though.

Since raw mead is raw and since evidence suggests that humans and other primates have been consuming alcohol for millions of years, raw mead would presumably qualify as raw Paleo.

Hey Phil, have you tried brewing a mead since? I'm completely fascinated with the idea of creating my own tonics as of late. The sheer number of meads one can make with various herbs and fruits is really quite interesting and could even potentially yield benefits when consumed in small amounts with my meals. Though I know most probably won't agree with that hehe. Not that I'm saying it definitely would, but I'm very excited to experiment with it at some point. But quite frankly, I honestly can't see it being negative when used sparingly. Surely enough I will find out  ;D.

I probably would have removed the thought from my mind had I not discovered that all honey does not affect me in the same way. I experienced some absolutely dismal results when consuming a local 'raw' honey which I'm sure was heated. Most sugars and fruits tend to make me quite anxious and I was wanting to see if raw honey did the same. But I didn't give up and decided to try Really Raw Honey. I've tried it in the past, but never of any quantity greater than a couple tablespoons. I managed to eat 2lbs 10oz in 3 days with no side effects even on an empty stomach at times... Truly wild. The previous honey was incapacitating me in far smaller doses. But I shall continue on with my vlc trial for some time before potentially incorporating honey and or mead into my diet. I may have to try the fermented RRH at some point as well.

One word.

Lemon.

Dont bother with any of this other weird stuff. Lemon works for a long time with zero side effects. I also think it smells quite nice.

You are very welcome.

I've got to hand it to you. I started using fresh lemon on gym days. The coconut oil I was using before just wasn't doing it. I still smell like lemon after heavy sweating.

What they don't tell you is that he is using a bench shirt.

Even if he benches 400lb without bench shirt still impressive.

Oh wow, I had no idea. But yeah still pretty remarkable.

Wow, only 18 years old? That's one hell of a feat. I'm working pretty hard at the moment to bulk up, but I don't think I want to be that big at all.

General Discussion / Re: where to find truly raw nuts?

Found these instructions on a random website. So I'm not sure how accurate it is considering I've never sprouted anything other then a few occasions. I once saw a test of two brands of almonds labled raw from California. I believe they allowed them to soak for several days. One began to sprout while the other started to turn black indicating some form of pasteurization.

•Place one cup of almonds into a bowl
Cover almonds with water and let sit for
12 hours
•In the morning, drain and rinse the
almonds
•Squeeze the almond to see if you can
remove the almond from the skin.
If the skin can be removed by the skin
kind of sliding off the almond, the
almonds have been pasteurized in some
way. The easier the skin removes, the
more treatments the almonds received.
If you have to use your fingers to peel
the skin off the almonds, piece by piece,
then the almonds have not been
pasteurized.

It seems fruits trigger the elimination of previously eaten and accumulated carbohydrates, particularly the abnormal ones contained in wheat.

Interesting. I've never actually heard this before. It very well may be a possibility as my sad days are not far behind me.

Welcome to the forum! What type of RVAF diet are you currently doing?

Currently, I'm focusing on low carb. I've toyed around with different amounts of carbs and come to the conclusion that less is better. For a little over a week I went a bit nuts with fruit. Nothing close to that of a fruitarian, but I was eating a fair share. After this expirement, I immediately limited my fruit. It seemed to bring out many of the mental problems I thought I had rid myself of. After that I returned to the calm and clear headed state I remembered in just a couple days.

welcome   :)   where in kansas are you?

In the capital, Topeka.

Welcome! Congrats on making the switch and I hope you continue to experience the benefits.

Please do. Also, consider making a journal where you could track the changes in your health and inform members (and people considering RAF) of your progress.

I definitely will tomorrow. I haven't given much thought to writing a journal, but I will keep that in mind.

Hello everybody, my name is Ryan. I've been lurking these forums somewhat for the past 4 months or so and taking in information from everyone's experiences. Starting about a year ago I started to cook my meat less and less with the belief in mind that raw was better. I'd come across a lot of information regarding raw foods and I started to consume them regularly. Though this information only pertained to raw plant foods, I couldn't see how the same didn't apply to animal sourced as well. When I came across this forum and the idea of eating totally raw animal foods, I was amazed. So about three months ago, I went cold turkey and started eating totally raw meat. I'm not one easily bothered by drastic changes when it comes to improving my health, so it took me only a matter of days to adjust to totally raw meat. I've been purchasing from Slanker's, but I plan to find a local source soon enough as to avoid freezing. It's been very difficult for me to note specific changes in my health because they just come too quickly! I'm only 21 years old, but I was in absolutely abysmal shape only a couple years ago. I had been overweight since I was 8 years old due to eating a diet consisting primarily of processed foods and sugar. I would gorge myself like no other. If I was full, it didn't matter. I could always eat more. This destruction of my body was compounded by the fact that I did not regularly exercise and I was a video game addict. I would sit in front of my tv or computer screen and play games for 10 hours a day. I developed structural imbalances due to this and the lack of supportive muscle tissue. By the time I was 18 years old, I weighed in at 330 lbs. I often experienced sharp chest pains and numbness of the left arm. The depression was overwhelming. Suicide was a regular thought for me. But here I am -- 150lbs lighter than before and on the road to recovery! I think I might make a thread in the before and after section to show my progress and further discuss what I've overcome.
