Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / fatty wild meat, which sources?
« on: June 03, 2017, 06:00:57 pm »
It seems that most land game meat available in Western Europe have a low fat content, significantly lower than domesticated animals. Pigs are five times fattier than boars, for example. I'm afraid our ancestors have hunted to extension the fattiest animals of our regions. I mean, just imagine the fatty coating of a mammoth, or a whooly rhino...what's your take on this, which fatty meats would you suggest as an alternative or as a supplement?

The true problem with cow milk is that first of all it contains 3 times more protein than human milk. This is too much protein for a child, and it explains why children fed on cow milk have livers and kidneys 30% bigger in volume than those of children fed on breast milk. Secondly, cow milk may have three times the amount of calcium than mothers milk, it also has 5 times the amount of phosphate, which binds to calcium in the intestinal track and prevents 2/3 of it to be absorbed. Which explains in part why the heavy dairy-drinking populations also have a high prevalence of osteoporosis.

Also owned a pair of vibram 5, felt fine in the beginning as a first pair of zero drop running shoes, then I got tired of the restriction of movement, and the awkward fit of toe socks inside them. The look of it is meh anyways.
I then bought a pair of Swiss Barefoot Company socks (they seem to have left the market somehow), which are toe socks made of a flexible kevlar fabric. Very light and flexible, but despite the high tech material they wear of very quick if you start going for runs with them. So mine got shredded to pieces, and I bought a new pair that I only wear for wall climbing (they work fine for that). They seem very similar to the skinners, except they suck for running, but the toe splay is greater.

I've been running with Luna Sandals for two years now, after reading Christopher McDougall's book "Born To Run" that I highly recommend to anyone who is into minimal running. They're great. The sole is pretty thick for a minimalist shoe, compared to other sport and casual minim shoe brands that I wear such as Lems or Vivobarefoot, but it's pretty convenient for road and rocky terrain, so I get enough suspension on the former and avoid too much sharp sensations on the latter. They have different models for various terrains, so they also have thinner soles if that's what you're looking for.

Interestingly, it reminded me of something a friend once told me about people originating from Congo and the nearby regions. Apparently, they have a harder time making plans and projecting themselves in the future, because they have evolved in an environment where resources were abundant nearly all year round. On the other hand, people who evolved in temperate and cold climate had to prepare in advance for the harsher winter days, by stocking food, building shelters, making clothes, moving to places with more animals to hunt, etc

These pictures probably mentally bring us back to those times, in a way.

Nice article.

I've already mentioned it on this forum a while ago:

"Biphasic sleep"

Still cool to be reminded of such phenomenon.

Strange, considering the host is american. The youtube channel it is posted on is called "Russian Cuisine", there might still be some sort of cold war hostility lurking under the surface ;)

Anyways great video so far (I'm 20min in), it looks like the host has a lot of experience with raw meat, seeing how he is enjoying himself and being comfortable trying out new raw foods. And the size of those mussels!!

Nitpicking? You talk about how Inuits having Denisovan genes debunks the fact they need technology to survive in their cold climate, I tell you they actually do need their fur coat and igloos. Simple as that.

11
Well, depends how cold the climate is, or becomes in winter. I mean, even with their Denisovan cold adaptation gene, and their raw meat and fat diet, the Inuits still rely on fur and shelter (technology) to survive the arctic cold. I'm not saying they're heat-adapted, they are just not as cold adapted as you suggest.

IQ levels also vary depending on how much a person needs and uses intelligence, and can be exercised like a muscle. Perhaps people living in cold and seasonal regions have in average higher IQs because they had to anticipate periods of scarcity in winter, and find ways to deal with the harsh climate and contrasted environment in order to survive.

Someone recently told me Africans from the tropical forest area (Congo etc) had a harder time with concepts like anticipation and projecting themselves in the future, because they evolved in an environment with food so abundant, and climate so constant that those concepts were useless. Some of those ethnies don't even have a word for "tomorrow". This might explain in part the lower average IQ of some of these ethnies.

Since junkfood is linked to decrease in intelligence and "fogging" of the mind, it makes sense that good diet leads to higher IQ, since a clearer mind enables faster learning and better memory.

I'm quite interested in this topic.

I don't know Dariopl, two of my best friends were mixed race, one half Afro-American half Danish, the other half English half Malay, and the fact their parents were different race never really shocked me. I was young back when I became friends with the first one, and I didn't even think about the fact his father was black and his mother white. Didn't seem that odd to me (or odd at all).

However, four years ago one of my white best friends got with a Sierra Leone girl friend of ours. His sister and mother were indeed hostile toward them, but it might've been more because of her possessive and self-centered attitude than just race and skin color.

Anyways, this so called disgust people are supposed to feel towards interracial couples, why does the concerned couple not feel it towards their companion?

IMO interracial couple will become more and more common with advanced globalization and acceptance of such behavior.

Besides, it is merely rehashing, in a different way, the rather overly-obvious point  that the age-old cliche that opposites attract is  complete, utter nonsense.
I wouldn't say that. I mean, I would describe myself as pretty active, health-conscious, untidy and slightly effeminate. The last girl I was into was lazy (but surprisingly fit), pasta addict, obsessive about hygiene and boyish in her manners. I'd say we complemented each other quite well ;)

I'd rather eat squirrels. They're cleaner, wild, and have been eaten raw by the Ainus people for centuries.

The Ainus are a groupe of people from Hokkaido, an island in the North of Japan. Squirrel brain is considered a delicacy over there, and is eaten raw. They remove the organs and haché the whole squirrel body, with its bones and cartilage, so as to render those edible. they eat that raw too.

Source: an interesting manga comic some classemate lend me, "Golden Kamui". The author has done a lot of research on these people for his comic, and hunting methods in general.

Yeah, very little info on the fabric itself. And it's already known that the degradation of synthetic fabric releases hormone-disrupters and others. And a fabric as light as this one... So I'll probably just stick to going baretop each time I go out running.

Don't forget the degradation of plastics and paint in homes which produces all kinds of bad hormone-disrupting stuff. Apparently some house plants can absorb some of those. Anyways, it's always good to let fresh air in everyday or so.

This thread should go in the "Health" section IMO. There's already enough topics in the off-topic section as it is.

There are anti-nutrients in every food.

Each species and each individual react differently to anti-nutrients present in a same food, depending if 1) it's adapted to it (cows digg grass, not steak), 2)it's body requires certain nutrients also present in the food. If the animal is 1) adapted to the food and 2) needs the nutrients present in the food, then the body will block and manage the anti-nutrients so it can have access to the good stuff. When the body has enough of one type of food, it will stop blocking the anti-nutrients, and the animal will feel the bad taste, texture, smell or gastric sensation, and will stop eating this food. So it doesn't matter how much anti-nutrients a certain (raw whole) food contains. If it tastes good, smells good, and gives you no digestive or bodily issues (eg: cold when eating fruits in winter) , then it's what you need.

ps: Why is this thread off-topic? Seems like it belongs in the raw-omnivorous diet section or something.

I was looking into those for a while now. Thinking about which plant I'm going to put in my student room.

I think such plants might live longer and be more efficient if they are "grounded", with an conductive rod or something.

http://www.instructables.com/id/Ground-Any-Plants-For-Optimal-Results-In-Growth-Ra/step2/The-proof-of-the-puddng/

"The idea is that when you pot a plant or remove it from the soil you have disconnected it from the earth and all the negative electrons the plant needs. When you pot a plant especially in plastic pots, it becomes insulated and starts picking up the AC electricity in the air causing growth stunting.
To stop the stunting you need to reconnect the plant with its natural environment - the earth."

Some commercialised products: http://earthandgrow.com

As a matter of fact, "grounding" yourself also has health benefits, according to some.

Imma order some tan-through clothing, for the times when being topless is "indecent". Apparently it lets in half of the UVBs, which has a part in the vit. D production process, and UVAs, for tanning. Double win IMO  8).

none of that sob story applies to raw dairy farmers.
Please provide evidence or share personal experience meeting raw dairy farmers to back up your claim. Why would raw dairy farmers farm differently?

Pears tend to give me stomach cramps.
I'm also careful with pears. Sometimes they give me gas.

Amusing article, that.. 100 days? When I think of all those ancient monks who managed to avoid such activity for decades, and now it seems that a mere 100 days of avoidance  is considered an ordeal.
Interesting thing is they might've been able to do so thanks to beer, which contains both alcohol, which lowers testosterone and increases oestrogen, and hops, a powerful phytoestrogen. Monks also used a variety of medicinal plants which lowered their libido and testosterone.

On the other hand, not cumming for seven days increases testosterone levels by 45%. After that, the levels go back down to baseline.
