They are flat and oval. They really stick out. In th pancras they are dark brown with a lighter ring around them. I think when they are in liver that they are orange.

Dr Hulda Clark of parasite awareness promotion fame thinks the pancreatic fluke of cattle is common and should be accepted as that.

I think Hulda Clark is a nut job. However given her stance on parasites, I guess I should not be worried if she feels they should be accepted as common. I actually just cut the flukes out and ate the rest anyway. I hate to throw away meat and it did seem silly to be worried about them.

Personally I think zappers are junk. From my experience, if you want to use electric for health go with Bob Beck's blood electrifier.

Off Topic / Re: Nutritional Link to Violent Crimes?
« on: October 13, 2008, 04:12:35 am »
Wow! So there are several studies linking lead to violent crime:

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/02/050223145108.htm

http://www.ens-newswire.com/ens/may2008/2008-05-28-03.asp

I would say that tap water is the source of a lot of violent crime. With the metals and the fluoride and everything else in it that messes up the brain.

Someone told me once that in a book about vitamin b12 the author looked at prisoners for violent crimes and found them all to be b12 deficient. I would also look at metal toxicity in the brain, as aluminum has been found very often (all of the time from what I understand) in the brains of Alzheimers patients and there is also the mercury-vaccine-autism connection. Of course those two diseases are violent crime related, but if heavy metals can make you retarded they can probably make you insane, psychotic etc.

I agree with the metals. I read a study once about high lead content in the blood having a connection with high crime rates. I will have too look for it. It was showing that communities with higher lead content in their water also had higher crime rates.

Ugh! I hope you are alright, and I think you did the right thing by throwing it out.

Makes me kind of nervous to eat the pancreas I just got!

I would not hesitate to eat it. Flukes are big usually. They are not just confined to the pancreas either.

that's crazy!
geez i would hate to lose a good supplier. I don't know what I would do.

I don't know what to do. I get 90% of my meat from him. Sadly where there is one fluke....there are many.
Do you think I should let the farmer know?

Thanks. My thoughts exactly. I did eat some before finding the nasty bugger. I threw the rest out. I get a lot of meat from this farmer..... :( Do you think I should let the farmer know?

Tonight for dinner I was eating raw pancreas and I came across a pancreatic fluke (eurytrema pancreaticum). Should I be worried about eating eggs? I have never worried about parasites in raw meat, but it is weird coming across them while eating. Weird to, since they are grass fed and finished. Although I don't really know the specks of flukes. Any thoughts?

Carnivorous / Zero Carb Approach / Re: Braaaaains

Brains are illegal in the US. The only way to get them is to:

A: Kill your own animal by hunting
B: Make friends with a farmer and receive the brain as a gift from an animal slaughtered at the farm
C: Travel abroad to a contry that does not ban the sale of brains
D: get them illegally

I have been trying to get a brain for some time using method A and D  -d

General Discussion / Re: What are you eating right now?
« on: September 21, 2008, 06:22:14 pm »
That bad, huh?

I'm eating the 100% grass-fed beef that I got from the Farmer's Market today.
The taste and smell are SOOOOO much different than what I'm used to, the meat that gets sent to me.
This meat I'm eating now has a flavor that is so... robust! It's so strong.
I don't even know if I like it or not!
What might be the reason for this drastically different flavor?

I think age of cow and type of grass eaten affect the taste most. If the prices are high it is most likely due to age. I pay $7-12/lb for my local ground meat, but those cows live to be 8 years old before slaughter. There are also different grasses some with higher sugar/carbs than others. Also region would make a difference. Cows from the northeast (where I am ) get less sun and heat than cows in the south.

Primal Diet / Re: Organic Pastures
« on: September 18, 2008, 06:24:20 pm »
The trouble with raw dairy is that feeding the cattle grains stimulates the cows re extra milk production, so it's a major incentive to the farmer to do so. I've also heard about one scandal where Sally Fallon and the WAPF leadership protected 1 raw-dairy-farmer from accusations from lay-members that his dairy-producing cattle were actually partially-grainfed.

I've heard that the Amish in Pennsylvania are 100% reliable.

Yes, the Pennsylvania amish are reliable for outstanding dairy.....at least the organic farmers. While I am not consuming dairy I do work with a couple amish dairy farmers. I do not know any off the top of my head, but there are a few that do ship. Being amish they don't have a website or anything so you would have to get the Phone number to order. Maybe WAPF has info on one.

General Discussion / Re: Natural Eyesight Improvement
« on: September 18, 2008, 08:49:47 am »
OK, so I got a replacement pair of glasses but I think I'm only going to use them when ABSOLUTELY necessary. I changed the font size on my computer to extra large so i could read it without glasses and without my face up to the screen, but it's still really blurry.

So does anyone have any thoughts on what the best natural eyesight improvement method is?
Bates? Quackenbush? Mercola has a vision course as well.

I'll check out that orthokeratology thing as well... but if it's expensive I doubt it'll happen

I have about 4 or 5 books on the subject and I really think quackenbush nails it. I do not have perfect sight, but it has improved greatly. You should look into getting reduced prescription glasses that way you can improve your sight and still be able to function.

I don't have any complaints about US wellness meats... they're who I order from and I think they're fine.
They have really nice people that work for them too. They even published a comment of mine in one of their newsletters!

Do you get the fresh shipments?

For a long time, I have been thinking about just simply not using my glasses anymore.  That's it.  Just take them off and don't put them back on.  With me going back on the raw paleo diet, maybe my vision will just correct itself....

It probably would correct its self to some degree. I do think that you would need to take measures to help it all the way. I tossed my contacts over a year ago and though my vision is not perfect yet, it does not register to me that there is any blur unless I think about it. My vision is not all that bad now, altough I bet if the average Joe would walk outside and see through my eyes they would have a panic attack.....relaxation is also a key to improving sight.

I may not be able to read the smaller print on street advertisements, but I think I am much better off not knowing what it says. I also find that things are easier to see and that there is less blur when I am in a more natural environment.....again relaxation.

General Discussion / Re: Raw tongue WTF!
« on: September 14, 2008, 08:19:06 pm »
I like to chop up the tongue into small pieces, including the tip and back. Then I leave it outside the refrigerator until it gets slightly "high" then eat it. For me it chews a lot easier that way plus I find the flavor of slightly high tongue better than fresh.

General Discussion / Re: Strange reaction eating spleen
« on: September 02, 2008, 06:40:55 pm »
I don't want to demonize spleen. I will more than likely eat it again. My thoughts are that it was something from the cleaning/inspecting process as it had a chemical-like taste to it.

General Discussion / Strange reaction eating spleen
« on: September 02, 2008, 06:59:17 am »
On Wednesday for dinner I was eating raw spleen. This is the first time I had the spleen. About 15min into eating it I started to get a severe pain in my chest(not like heart burn or indigestion) The pain was so bad I had to lay down. I got up frequently to get some water, but the pain continued until I got to sleep hours later. When I woke up the next day my neck and lower back were in so much pain I could barely move, my kidneys were also very sore. The next day however the chest pain was gone. The day after that (Friday) I still had the kidney pain, but the muscle tightness in my neck and back were gone. On Friday I also developed a fever. Saturday the fever was gone and the kidney pain was minimal. Today I am fine.

I have been searching and searching for what could have happened....with no luck. My first thought was that maybe something naturally in the spleen caused this reaction, but that seemed less likely the more I searched. Then I considered that it may have been a chemical residue left from either the washing or the inspection process. There was a taste to the spleen that seemed unnatural I don't know how to describe it (and yes I tasted it before the chest pain) If I had to compare it to something it would be menthol.

The only thing I found that would have been added by the USDA inspector is lactic acid, which does not match up. Does anyone have thoughts or input on this?

it really is a good cleanse. I like to do it when I fast, even if it is just one day.

Once I did 2 Tbs. in the mix  :-X .....it did not make it out the other end. About 5 min after I drank it I was throwing it up. Although I still felt refreshed after it, I do not think I will be doing that again.

It worked, by the way. Very well. I think I'm going to do it for a few more days as well.
Have you tried this yet, Avalon?

Did you do 2tsp in 1 quart water?

Hi Paleokyle,

have you ever tried using kelp powder in a salt shaker as a salt substitute??? Just thinking out loud  :)

When I was raw vegan I did this, however I am really put off by the taste of seaweed combined with raw meat. I have no problem adding a little salt to my drinking water. If I can get blood I will mix it up with ground meat until it can't hold anymore....sort of like "unbleeding the animal"  ;D It seems paleo man would have gotten a lot more salt from their animals.

It would be good if a few have a go; that would give a better picture for me, you and the next person... salt has always been a big ??? for me.

Nicola,
I have been following your salt posts on many of the low/no carb forums. I am about as confused as you with this subject. For me I do best by simply adding salt to my drinking water. Adding salt to my food gives me nasty heart burn. For about a week I used cow's blood as a salt and I think that was the best for me, however that is not an easy thing to get  :-\ and I don't see myself getting any anytime soon.

The salt flush that you mention in this thread is amazing when combined with a water fast. I have been thinking about doing one soon, and I will add that to the fast. I don't think that your body uses the salt that is in the purge. I also think it is good to have a very empty stomach when doing it.

General Discussion / Testicles
« on: August 20, 2008, 07:58:21 am »
Does anyone eat these regularly and or enjoy them? I ate my first pair of cow oysters and I see now why they are called that. I enjoy a lot of different organs and glands on a regular basis, but testicles were a little hard to get down. Are they all about the same lamb, goat, bison etc.? I will probably have them again just to have assortment and I can't help but feel that maybe they will supply nutrients to my own testicles/sex organs. I have heard about people eating them in order to increase libido, but I don't know if that is true.

General Discussion / Re: Eating Raw Animal Foods in public
« on: August 18, 2008, 07:22:44 am »
I usually take a glass container with me each day filled to the brim with meat and fat. When I am hungry I will go to a park and sit down and eat. I have never had a problem. I think people would not believe someone was eating raw meat even if they saw what it was....it is just to scary and real for them. The only problem I would have is if the gestapo searched my bag...considering they harassed me for carrying water in glass bottles  ::) the last time I was searched.

I also like to eat this way because by the time I do eat, my food is nice and warm. When I get home and eat I never give it enough time to warm to room temperature.
