« on: January 30, 2011, 09:04:01 am »
I got a pig's head from the butcher. I smashed the skull open with a hammer(really thick...). I couldn't eat the brain it tasted horrible? The meat around the cheeks tasted horrible too..

To me it tastes bland, but it was beef brain.

I recently found a source of raw fresh brain. Today I bought 2 btw. I didn't notice any special effect, but I just ate it once.

You might not have been eating enough fat. I get cravings when I don't get enough.

I don't think that's the case (not for me anyway). I some times overeat on fat too. Once I ate almost a pound in 1 sitting. What kills my hunger is organ meats. 100g of liver and some fat and I'm fine.

I eat barbecue sometimes. The problem is that I overeat, some times up to 2kg. I have no problems though. But anyway I won't eat that anymore as it's almost burnt meat.

Pumpkins seeds - 540 mg per 100 g

You're right. But you do realize 100g is a lot. Eating 100g of it every single day is not harmless to say the least. Seeds in general contain many antinutrients. You would have to roast them, and even then they're not safe in high amounts. Here in Brazil I can get hold of pure magnesium powder(chelated or not) without any fillers. I consider it safe and better than pumpkin seeds, but that's just me.

To me it seems your problem is magnesium deficiency. It's hard to find a concentrated food source of magnesium, so you might try supplementing it. Chelated form is better as magnesium salts could be hard on the stomach. I suggest 400mg to 600mg right before going to bed. You might be skeptical, but I really think it's worth a try.

This is the marrow I get too sometimes. Yellow and creamy. It's delicious and of course it's OK to eat it.

I'm afraid your figures are incorrect. You said you eat 0.33lbs of beef 3 times a day. That is 1lb total. As you said it's ground fatty meat (25% fat), so I assume its 75% lean meat. So let's say you eat 340g of lean meat a day. Lean meat has on average 25% as protein, so your daily intake of protein is 85g. It seems you're just a little over the standard recommendation. Also according to my calculations just your ground beef is 75% fat by calories. You also eat egg yokes and marrow, so I guess you diet is 80% fat if not higher.

If you want to solely provide glucose or fructose then why not just eat a little unrefined raw sugar or raw honey - thats an easy way to get it. lol
Vegetables and fruits are excellent sources of carbs and they pack lots of nutrients and antioxidants, I don't know why you would choose those over cooked starches  ???
If there a reason you want starch so bad in your diet? Just curious...

Sorry I'm not an English native speaker, but I was under the impression "solely" means only, purely... When I said "solely glucose", I meant solely glucose. So I'll try to put it simply, I don't want much fructose in my diet. Also I feel the need for some glucose, as I don't have enough energy to run more than 2 minutes on a ZC diet(even eating a kilo of meat/day and 200g of fat). My target is 50g of glucose. These past weeks I've been eating sugary fruits in small quantities. To get these 50g from fruit, i would also get 50g of fructose (assuming it's 50/50). This is the same as 100g of sucrose :o. I want to keep my fructose intake to a maximum of 10g a day, which is close to 350g of papaya and that's what I'm eating. It's still missing 40g of glucose though. Honey is a waste of time in my opinion. Why get pure sugar, if I can get lots of nutrition from fruits? I know honey has some nutrients, but nothing compared to fruits. If honey were just glucose, I would give it a shot, but the fructose screws it. So you see, it's hard to get glucose and not get fructose at the same time if your not eating starches(which, in case you don't know, will become glucose once metabolized). Even if I had a source of pure glucose, i would still prefer starch, as it wont pike insulin as much. Regarding vegetables, I'm not against them at all. Since I started adding carbs back, I've been eating lots of peeled cucumbers and some lettuce. But they are not good sources of carbs but rather good sources of fiber and nutrients.

Aren't u kinda leary about consumming lectins? why not eat fat instead, as starch blockes absorbsion through the small intest (im prty sure, plz correct if wrong)

I'm eating more than 200g of fat a day isn't it enough? o.O
My intentions with starch is solely to provide glucose. One meal of some raw vegetables plus a little cooked starch(50g). Then several hours later a second meal of my usual raw meat and fat. So you can see I'm not planning to mix them, so by the time I eat the nutritious organ and muscle meats the carbs will have been digested already. Re lectins, in the case of potatoes (nightshades) most of the natural toxins is in the skin, so I just have to eat peeled potatoes. In my opinion there are many options of safe cooked starches. It doesn't mean I won't eat fruits, I just don't want to rely entirely on it as my source of carbs.

Almost a month ago, I started to add carbs back to my diet. It seems to be an easy task, but it's not. I'm aiming 50g of carbs a day. At first I decided my source of carbs to be fruits. On further reasoning I came to the conclusion that 50g of sugar (fructose and glucose) every day is not worth it. I've been struggling to find raw sources of starch. I'm now starting to think cooked starches are a better idea. For instance white or sweet potatoes.

General Discussion / Re: Blood - its soo good, but how good?
« on: October 21, 2010, 08:32:36 am »
Does it clot in an air tight vacuum baggie? The meat I get is packed like that right when its butchered and sold fresh, I buy it on the day its cut up. I'll try to take a pic. of it next time, and I'll keep it out of the baggie for a couple of hours and see it it starts clotting or not. The stuff I had looks way too dark and thick to just be all meat juice (I have seen meat juice and it was kinda different in consistency), it could be the juice mixed with blood, I have no clue  :P

The meat I get hold of just carries juice. Last time I bought some beef, I asked the butcher to save the juices from the vacuum packaged meat (7kg). I guess I got close to 300ml. It tastes so good.

Tomatoes and meat how ever is a nono.

For me it's not a problem at all. But I don't do it often.

Display Your Culinary Creations / My beef from supermarket (grassfed)
« on: October 14, 2010, 10:05:00 am »
I don't have any presentation. I usually just cut the meat in small pieces and put in glass jars. Most of the meat I buy from supermarkets is grassfed. Some supermarkets (the big ones) though sell meat from young cattle which is probably grainfed and also more expensive.

Well I'm not eating the meat on the picture, but after it was shot I ate a good amount of it.

Well I didn't read any book also. I guess you will feel more comfortable if you take a look at the pictures of members eating raw meat with their bare hands.

Strangely enough I've never been afraid of bacteria. When I first read about eating raw meat (on the WAPF site) I wasn't shocked or anything, my only concern was regarding taste. Then I found this forum quite by accident. In fact I was looking for food sources of vitamin b6 (for my acne), and read that it's destroyed by hit. So it made sense I should eat raw meat in order to get enough b6. Just then I started reading on heat generated toxins and so on.

Nothing wrong with protein or carbs.

I'm not saying either of them are bad. But too much protein as well as too much carbs are bad, at least for me anyway. Also I guess there're desirable ratios of macronutrients depending on one's goals.

Hey.. welcome.

I've been on a RPD since august 2009. I started this diet because of acne as well. I'm 23. I can't say I'm acne free, but I'm almost there. I still get some minor blemish once in a while. But my oily skin disappeared, blackheads on my nose vanished. Large pores are getting better and some acne scars are getting better also. I did some wrong things though. I just recently started to eat organ meats, before I would buy them and let them rot and then just throw all away. I've been upping my fat intake recently also. I found wild never frozen seafood which is delicious just a month ago. There was a period I was eating too much meat. Some days 1.5 kilos. It was ground though, maybe that's why I ate so much. My diet is now more balanced and I'm eating less. My digestion is way better since these last changes.

I kind of do it, but use magnesium chloride instead of sodium chloride. I just do it once in a while with one or less teaspoon dissolved in water. I helps my digestion.

General Discussion / Re: Raw Fat and Eczema?
« on: October 05, 2010, 06:49:43 am »
Fat is the base material for the production of many hormones. If you suddenly add lots of fats to a previous low or moderate fat diet, you are bound to get a temporary hormonal unbalance. Your hormonal production will skyrocket, and your body won't handle it in the beginning, so you might get some problems like eczema or acne. You have to increase your intake of fat gradually in order for your body to adapt to it. It takes time.

I drink lots of water and eat meat, yet I still get cravings for fruit as if I'm thirsty, no matter how much water I drink.  But water tends to dry out the back of my throat, whereas the fruit is so juicy and delicious and quenching.

I bet the problem is low fat intake. When I eat my meat first and don't eat enough fat, I tend to evereat. Though eating the fat first, my stored meat becomes high, if you know what I mean. By enough fat, I mean a lot of it. I eat at least 400g of back fat, which I guess is about 200g of pure fat.

Apparently magnesium is also very important for hormone production. I've been reading lots of stuff on magnesium recently. I'll get some Mg supplements and see if I get results. There're some studies that found Mg increases free testosterone.
