I heard his interview on Livin la vida and he eats a good deal of refined/processed foods and carbs including white flour and sugar.

I don't think there's anyway to know for sure unless the cows are tested.

I wish these articles would use the words "sodium chloride" if they mean the crap that is called "table salt". It's just not the same thing as whole salt without all the minerals stolen from it

Sea salt is around 98-99% sodium chloride.  Some sea salts contain caustic elements as well.

Calm down tyler and stop with the attacks, please.  I can assure you I am not a troll lol.

So your first link I have definitely never seen before and is pretty interesting, boiled meats do seem to be somewhat high at first glance.  The problem is that raw meat already has a decent amount of AGE content for some reason, raw chicken for example is 700 and boiled is 950(compared to 5000 for roasted).

Plant foods on the other hand have negligible amounts with boiled potatoes coming in at 17, this was what I was really interested in because cooked meat has other greater problems besides AGEs so the AGE content doesn't necessarily matter too much(to me at least).

Your second link is pretty classic, especially considering that you are calling me stupid.  Its a study done on mice with refined AGEs, you seriously think that is equal to a study done on healthy humans?  If there are studies done on relatively healthy humans show them, otherwise stop with the attacks.

I'm a liar because I realize that these studies aren't absolute and can be wrong?  Ok...  You need to chill out dude, your dogma with this AGE thing is beyond insane.  No need to attack me over it lol,  I'm actually trying to learn as hard as that may be to believe :)

Again diabetic patients aren't representative of healthy humans, just because a diabetic patient is worse off doesn't mean anything for healthy people.  With that being said so far everything you posted has not proven that AGE are a problem for healthy people or that health problems reduce when AGEs are eliminated.

Before you ban me or attack me anymore let me make it clear that I don't even eat foods with AGEs for the most part and I think they may be a causal factor in some diseases but your weak studies you parade around don't show much, they definitely don't show Dietary AGEs being the villain you make them ut to be.

You never provided me with a source that AGEs form in boiled food, if you did I missed it and would love to see it again.

The first study(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20229096) puts diabetic patients(Diabetes causes an overabundance of endogenous AGEs) against healthy people, so it really doesn't prove much.  The second study(http://jasn.asnjournals.org/content/14/3/728.full) is on patients with renal failure which severely gimps your ability to clear AGEs, again it tells us absolutely nothing for people who are even somewhat healthy.  The last one is a review of the literature and is very telling, "Recent studies suggest that in addition to those endogenously formed, diet constitutes an important exogenous source of AGEs"  "Recent in vitro and in vivo studies revealed significant correlations between diet-derived AGEs and several risk factors and/or markers of CVD"

Show me the study comparing dietary AGEs levels in healthy humans.  You need to realize that sick people aren't healthy people and correlations/suggestions don't necessarily prove anything.  AGEs are probably the least worrisome thing that SADers take in, not to mention that you can totally prvent them if you cook certain ways but that is a whole different subject.

You can pretend that AGEs are some horrible death killer all you want but the literature doesn't necessarily support you and there is definitely no conclusive evidence.  What we need is a clinical trial, two diets with the same foods and supplemental AGEs, until we have that we have nothing.

Even lighter forms of cooking such as boiling are implicated as well re heat-created toxins. While higher levels

Source?

AGEs from food probably have little to do with actual body AGEs accumulation, at least that what the science seems to suggest.

Heart disease can probably be brought on by many different mechanisms, nutrient deficiencies, stress, oxidized fat/cholesterol.

I've been wanting to try this ever since I heard daniel vitalis talking about it.  I read on one site that clay makes a very good substitute for toothpaste and that it cures gum disease.  I think daniel vitalis brushes his teeth with the clay and then swallows it.

Omnivorous Raw Paleo Diet / Re: Tree Ripened Fruits
« on: July 09, 2011, 07:33:03 am »
I wonder for this thread too if there's a test to tell if a fruit is TRULY tree ripened or if a fruit has been ethylene gas ripened.

The riper a fruit gets naturally the more appealing it looks most the time.  Smell, color and appearance are all good indicators.  Most fruits in a grocery store aren't really worth bothering with except for maybe melons or dates.  If you live where there are farmers markets you will probably have a easy time finding somewhat tree ripened citrus and maybe stone fruit if your lucky(always ask for over-ripe stuff as that's usually the good stuff)

Tree ripened fruits have more nutrients because they have matured longer, some fruits are pretty inedible unless tree/vine ripened.

You probably won't find any tree ripened fruits commercially for the most part, maybe at the local farmers market if your lucky.

For me it was because of a vitamin A deficiency.  I got crazy dandruff and started to get weird red bumps all over my forehead which went away almost overnight with vit A rich animal products.  I was probably borderline deficient in other stuff but the Vit A deficiency was the biggest tipping point.

OP never gave me problems either, mark mcafee is still a snake :)

regarding pasteurized milk to each their own, definitely doesn't taste like plastic to me.  I think it actually taste better then OP personally and it seems to have way more cream(best part imo!).  It's half the price too and I notice no health differences(my health is superior now but that's due to other issues)

I don't think your comparison really holds up.  Grass fed meat and grain fed meat aren't as different as Grass fed and grain fed milk imo and  Cooking meat at high temperatures doesn't equal running milk through a 160F tube for 16 seconds.

The pasteurized organic non homogenized milk from trader joes(its from strauss farms) is better then OP milk imo, its half the price too.  Not raw but I'm not really concerned with 15 seconds of 160 degrees or so.

I've never had calaravile but I remeber it being even more expensive then OP

Also for anyone who doesn't know OP has some pretty shady practices, they outsource for a couple of there products like colostrum and I've read they will buy pretty shitty raw milk and pass it off as from there grass fed cows.

He confirmed the statement and left a real beauty in my email inbox.
Not only was the colostrum from another dairy, but it was from one of the most notorious dairies in California: the Vander Eyk Organic Dairy out of Pixley, California.
Perhaps you have heard of the Vander Eyk Dairy right here on this blog. My husband and I stayed up late one June evening learning video editing to get this video out with the breaking news story.
The Vander Eyk Organic Dairy is the first and only dairy in U.S. history to lose its organic certification.

http://www.rebuild-from-depression.com/blog/2008/04/the_elephant_in_the_raw_milk_r.html

OP parades around as "grass fed" alluding to being 100% GF but they aren't.  Imo Mark Mcafee is a snake and I would never support the dude.

That's similar to the anabolic diet which is supposedly pretty good for strength gains.  You eat very low carb all week and high carb(he says 60% carbs is best) on the weekends.  If you want you can give me your email and I can give you a pdf copy of the book.

I wonder how many berries you'd have to eat to get 2.5% or 5% of your diet caffeic acid or ellagic acid.  Maybe 801010ers are on to something l)

I'd be a lot more worried about tooth decay from sweet sugar(fruit or whatever) than anything else.

Off Topic / Re: Scientific data on why organic foods are best.
« on: June 05, 2011, 09:06:37 pm »
It depends.  Organic food will most likely always be more nutritious but not necessarily depending on farming methods and farm location, organic people can use pesticides as well so don't just assume because its organic its pesticide free(or that organic pesticides are better then conventional).

For animal foods organic is probably always the way to go because toxins are stored in the fat and we all know how toxic conventional husbandry methods are.  Plant foods don't matter too much imo because they probably don't store that many toxins and the ones they do store are water soluble(i.e. you just pee them out for the most part).

So I wouldn't think evolutionary diets contained that substantial amounts of starch. Probably happened mainly when people started cooking food (not sure how long this is, evolutionary might be significant).

Has evolution ever stopped?

Do the math. If you include a minimal amount of animal foods its gonna be more like 6/2/2. At the bare minimum.

Not really, especially if the diet is very high calorie.  It depends on what animal foods you eat as well.  You could eat a pretty small amount of liver and fish to make up for pretty much every nutritional inadequacy on 811.  Still not sure about eating all that fruit though, it would probably be superior with cooked starches.

8/1/1 will slowly destroy your brain. Athlete or not, it's an incredibly dangerous choice.  I am very serious when I say this, I have done the diet, and it did harm that took years to undo. If you argue with this post, I will warn you, then ban you. You are saying positive things about a very dangerous dietary choice, and that 's not acceptable here. I'm letting you know now, in cause you're not just a vegan troll.

How does 811 slowly destroy your brain?  What would be wrong with 811 if it included sufficient amount of animal products?

That's still pretty shocking. It sounds like he was eating 30 bananas a day relatively early on in his diet (he eats other foods too, but it sounds like he mostly mono-eats and eats only bananas on days he eats them) and now has to eat many more to meet his needs (and if anything he looks a little more thin now than in the past (correct me if I'm wrong on any of this). That suggests to me that he is absorbing less and less nutrients from the bananas over time, perhaps due to damage to his systems (such as the GI tract). The fact that he brags about it like it were a good sign suggests a high level of self delusion, unless he's exercising WAY more than he used to or something.

70 bananas is probably the most DR has ever eaten in one sitting i.e. not his daily intake.  I doubt the bananas are causing him damage.  DRs problem and probably the problem of any other athlete that tries this diet is that its basically impossible to get enough calories and remain active without supplemental fat/animal nutrition.

His diet isn't that terrible for athletes(when it comes to sticking to raw), it would actually resemble something somewhat respectable if he added in a bit more fat and dense animal foods.

excessive dietary carbohydrate is simply not necessary for either basic endurance or strength training.

Overfeeding on carbohydrates increases glycogen stores from around 400g to 800g.  It might not be necessary but having all that fuel definitely helps to keep pushing it.  It really depends what kinda sport you want to do imo, weightlifters don't necessarily need a lot of fuel but for most competitive sports that last anywhere from 30mins to a couple hours the extra carbohydrates are gonna be a lifesaver.

23
Eating a very high carbohydrate diet increases glycogen storage by double, vastly increasing performance for people who need lots of fuel.  Dr bass is a moron.

Catch Bell's?

Yup, parko ripped the bag out of that place! :)

Its weird surfing doesn't feel like exercising but ever since I've surfing on a daily basis I've had a pretty significant increase in muscle mass and it makes me feel extremely ripped.
