Science / Re: Anti-circumcision studies
« on: January 14, 2015, 11:28:25 pm »
The cold-parenting myth has been debunked long ago. Real autism, as in people with a high chance of conditions  like tourette's or prosopagnosia, often being unable to speak if exposed to bright lights or whatever etc., involves people being severely brain-damaged from birth and not merely developing issues after 2-3 years or so. Non-genuine autism is only called "autism" because the autism-spectrum has increased vastly solely because lazy, corrupt psychologists wanted to expand the criteria for it. In actual fact, most of those with so-called "minor" autism should have been rediagnosed as having quite other mental health conditions. That is why I groan whenever some  nitwit  claims some cure for autism as it simply does not exist for genuine autism - as in, we cannot reverse brain-damage yet.

I do agree that lack of parental contact can harm a child as lack of affection can, apparently, even kill a child. But other than that sort of extreme, a child would only develop emotional hardness of a sort from cold parenting.

Definitely think you maybe wrong this time.

Definitely, babies require attention, validation, being held close, face to face communication.

If the parents are off doing other things, too busy to interact with child, or are expressionless when interacting with the kid in the early years it makes sense that they are not able to read faces or interact socially with others as they grow older.

If this theory is true then it is a tragedy of a monumental scale however, if the awful truth is known some kids maybe saved and it will reduce a lot of the distress or guilt for parents considering vaccinations.

edit. I would also like to see if there is a correlation between a children raised in a third world village, or a poor home with many generations living under the one roof compared to children raised in a suburban home, dropped off to day care while both parents work and the level of autism.

It's not the vaccination per se it's being affluent enough to afford the vaccination and all the trimmings that come with living in the first world.

Looks like the tribe has spoken. " go ahead and Nail the heathen to a cross of scorns"

Phil may be right and there is no such thing as a messiah, though I insist there must be people of various kinds who in various ways embody the spirit of the age. These people may reflect some very uncomfortable truths, and so are reviled by good society. Inevitably there will be people waiting to cast judgment upon anyone who attempts to resurrect the archaic notions that divinely inspired individuals live among us. There is a prevailing attitude that no one is divine, so any human who aspires to be must be viewed skeptically. Perhaps rightly so given the absolute humanitarian catastrophe the life of the historic Jesus has been.

Yet in an age of instant access of information and free association between fellow humans, I believe there is the real possibility of an evolution in consciousness, and we need people from all walks of life to spread the word that we are the divine spark, anyone is capable of embodying a higher spiritual self and changing the world .This seems to be a very taboo Ideal and the hierarchy of the established order will not accept the belief that everyone, no matter how fucked up your world is, can transcend the limitations placed upon us by those who choose to use the gift of life, to hate and bring down others instead of lifting them up with Love.

This discussion does not have to center around The individual known as Russell Brand, I really just wanted to discuss some of his ideas more deeply, without getting into pissing match regarding his moral fiber, and particular quirks.  Anyone else please feel free to put forth your own messianic idols to sacrifice at the alter of public opinion? Who in our world is the living embodiment of the humanist Ideal?

Unfortunately this is not how the world seems to work, and discussion has to center around Russell Brand. I would rather punch myself in the head than listen to that guy.

Autism is thought to be due to cold parenting in some countries (France, Belgium). Autism owing to cold parenting makes way more sense than circumcision, diet and vaccinations as the cause.

Wodgina, Its very easy to criticize anyone for anything, we all fall short of the glory, and for sure I would agree that there are far more worthy messages in this world than those provided by Brand. People like John Perkins, as well as many others like Aaron Swartz, or Pat Tillman who have become the martyrs of our age, are much more honorable hero's

Yet because brand is associated with being ridiculed in the press, to the point of having no "credibility" he is in a position where he would be able to reach certain demographics with a message that other more eminent minds of our time would not be able to reach, because of the unilateral censorship apparatus of the Corporatocracy.

Many of the critics in the media Regarding brand centers around petty trivialities, and will not address the heart of the issues he brings up. He may be a rascal, he may live in a million dollar home, so what, what the fuck does that have to do with global awakening and the restructuring of our systems? So far I have heard very little critique of the message and much banter about some relativistic hypocrisy regarding the messenger.

The awakening is not some popularity contest, nor is it centered around any individual. Anyone who wants to participate should be free to stand and be counted. If Russell Brand is merely pandering to naïve Pollyanna sentimentalities of misguided people, so what, as long as his intentions are good, and the information he is spreading is "true" I don't think any less of the Man. He is only Human for Christ sake.

I saw his documentary on drug addicts and he came across as unbelievable low on compassion (which is surprising considering he used to be one) I was really put off by him. This is why I joined the discussion.

He comes across as pretty harmless and he will be helpful for the cause , there is no doubt about it.

His shows, tapes probably aren't selling as strongly as they once were, so he is reinventing himself to keep in the limelight. He is an entertainer (con artist even comes to mind) not a messiah .

Just forced myself to re-watch the first interview, it was painful.

If I understand correctly, Brand moved beyond mere words and Tweets, leading a protest that took on billionaires, succeeded and addressed the real issue of the housing crisis, yes?

Well I read he has solved his own personal housing crisis for when he travels to LA  he owns a million dollar Hollywood mansion.

I suspect he puts a great deal of effort to dress like a bum.

I personally think everyone should live in an affluent area like Hoxton, close to the business centre, close to transport. It should be decided on fairness not the ability to pay for the rent ha ha.

« on: January 05, 2015, 09:41:58 pm »
Hey Jessica,

I  never considered auto immune disease as self injurious but you are right, it's the body attacking itself. I was thinking of someone who's personality changed the same time as they were diagnosed with diabetes 1 and a gent who had survived sexual abuse in the military but was now covered in psoriasis (looked very painful).

Psoriasis, eczema, diabetes and asthma are more likely to be diagnosed in those who self harm.

It's theory of mine, makes sense to me, so yes could be crazy.

It does relieve stress and feels really good (at the time). Except the next day.

Eczema is a form of self injurious behavior to relieve stress (the scratching act).

It's the same as self mutilation. You get a rush of endorphins by scratching through the skin. There is zero pain during the act even though it should be painful.

He doesnt sound intelligent to me.

Blames the system, blames large corporations for his drug problems. Talks fast in a high level squeal and it's pretty hard to listen to.

He talks about heavily taxing corportions, that profits are bad. This guy is a millionaire.

Back to the dogs again,,  in the US, dog walking is a very (or can be) lucrative business.  Probably would have to be a high end urban area where people with their busy lives don't have time to ....

That is actually a great idea especially in L. town. Maybe start off doing it out of work hours to see the potential.

If you look at aging countries such as Japan, dog / pet ownership is a sunrise industry. (pets are cheaper than kids they say)

I think your right GS ( I can spot a business guy a mile away).

Always ask successful business people for business advice. Do not ask your friends or family what they think of your business idea. When you start a business you will realise the stress can be huge there is no end to the fighting for money, dealing with everyones issues and meltdowns. You will have people that will tell you' no you cant do this' 'you need this' and 'this and this license'.

I couldn't think of anything worse than having a dog farm a bit yuck. I'm not a dog owner and never would but I like them and like the one in Dr's photo.

One of the thing
wodg quit talking so bad about yourself, theres gotta be someone you like

tyler, isn't the idea of being self employed that you generate enough capital to get by on your own?  why do you need an inheritance to start? come up with an idea, make it "real" and write it out, time lines, supplies, costs, whatever, find some one who is doing something similar and wants to work in the same direction, or not, or just network to find resources, get loans, grants, some kind of support.....

I know lol , I gotta stop doing that

The sad fact is that I would like to be self-employed in some way but my younger brother has stolen my entire inheritance. I don't have the funds therefore to do what I really want to do.

That sucks mate something similiar happened to me unfortunately I was a little naive? but being paranoid would be worse. I know a 100 million dollar anire and he thinks everyone's an arsehole and he is completely paranoid. He hates everyone.

Still no takers on this subject.

For instance a girl I know will laugh at anything me or my friends say all the time,  I never hear that belly laugh of real joy (I think she maybe a sociopath).

I have a client who comes across as a really nice guy except he fake laughs and I think he is a bit sad.

Or a girl who will laugh but I think she is actually not a very nice person and depressed as well.

Eve, I think virtual laughing is extremely important, because like emails and texts things can easily be taken the wrong way. If you chuck in a 'Lol' they do not take the post/text/email the wrong way (if you know what I mean heheh).

Let's say you hate your current job, and want to change careers into something wholly different. Let's say that any extra retraining ought to take no more than one year or so, and the new career is  a better-paying one than the one before. What career would you choose? I'd like to have some suggestions from any of you.

Sounds like a quick fix to me.

I think professions where you can rip people off in broad daylight are the best then customers thankyou!

1) Webdesigner (Sorry GS I'm sure your a good one)
2) Tradesman being plumber/Electrician
2) Physiotherapist/Chiropractor/Natural Therapist (These people are true conmen I'm not sure how they live with themselves)
3) Lawyer
4) Any business that deals in cash

If was in London I would get some sort of small business where I could work from home and get cash, it could be either pest control/fixing old ladies washing lines etc etc. who cares I would be extra charming and say for you 50 pounds cash and give me a call anytime you need anything done mate/old dear etc

Two jobs in a day at the start and your looking good.

I heard a really good PUA talk about this the other day. He referenced comedians and how a good comedian never laughs at his own jokes. A bad comedian will laugh ay his own jokes because the tension HE feels. Instead the good comedian accepts and is comfortable with the tension he creates. He chooses when to build or release the tension. The poor one has no control over it. So he laughs to diffuse it but it creates more for his audience.

oh yeah definiteley but not exactly what I was getting at.

I'm talking the ones who fake laugh ALL THE TIME
