General Discussion / Will fasting help me like the taste of raw beef?
« on: January 02, 2011, 06:15:42 pm »
Admittedly I am not even full paleo let alone raw but I just don't like the taste of raw beef at the moment and I have no other source of reliable grass fed meat. So Im wondering if I fast for 3 days or so and then try beef will there be a greater chance I will like it. And its weird cause I crave it but I don't like it...weird.

General Discussion / Re: Stomach pains from raw beef?
« on: September 12, 2010, 01:29:06 pm »
you were focusing on it. I get stomach pains sometimes just ignore them
But isn't that kind of against the point? Doesn't that make beef a not so ideal food for you and I?

General Discussion / Beef and fish raise insulin?
« on: September 06, 2010, 02:09:43 pm »
Is there any truth to this?
"A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (vol. 66, p. 1264, 1997) by the department of biochemistry at the University of Sydney, Australia, found that beef raised insulin levels more than white pasta and that fish raised them more than whole-grain bread. When compared with rises in glucose levels, beef raised insulin levels 27 times higher than brown rice did!"

General Discussion / Stomach acid?
« on: August 02, 2010, 05:21:39 pm »
So the only thing that confused me about humans eating meat was stomach ph. According to all the vegetarian out there human ph is about 4-5 and carnivores are less than or equal to 1. Ive been reading through health articles lately and found that this is bull.

"Everyone wants to know how strong stomach acid is. As released by the parietal cells in your stomach, stomach acid has a pH of about 0.8-1.0. Stunningly that's about the same strength as battery acid! However, as soon as it starts mixing with food, it will quickly rise to a pH of about 2.0-3.5 – a pH your stomach will try and maintain for proper digestion. As more and more food enters the stomach, however, it continues to dilute the acid in the stomach, thus causing the pH to rise. Chemoreceptors in the stomach detect the rise in pH and signal the brain to produce more acid. In addition, as described above, protein in particular enters the stomach and binds to hydrogen ions, thus neutralizing some of the acid and raising the pH of the stomach. This rising and falling of pH in the stomach continues throughout the gastric phase, which lasts about three to four hours."

So my question is when carnivores eat meat does the same thing not occur? Don't their stomach ph's rise and then lower again? Are vegetarians saying we have weaker stomach acid because that moment at which more protein enters the stomach?

Instincto / Anopsology / Craving raw beef!
« on: July 26, 2010, 03:15:13 pm »
Im still new to the whole raw paleo idea and am not anywhere near going 100% yet. So far Ive only had raw beef 3 times and haven't enjoyed it at all, I simply don't like the taste. The last time I ate some was about 2 weeks ago. Currently Im a 100% paleo but not raw. Anyway last night I craved raw steak. I don't even like the taste, why would I crave it?

Health / Anyone overcome TMJ?
« on: July 17, 2010, 07:42:56 am »
Hi I heard that TMJ may be caused by a diet with lots of grains and salicylates. Since the raw paleo diet is low in both of these, I was wondering if anyone has cured their TMJ on this diet?

General Discussion / Re: Which bone marrow to get?
« on: July 09, 2010, 06:14:57 am »
Was this pig raised completely in the sun?  Did it/he/she eat grain?  They make D for their fat by living in the sun.  If the pig is rarely outside, the you're getting much less D, but as long as it's eating raw wild nuts, mushrooms, grass, moles etc the fat should have good calories.

You're the speaker in that video?  I would think you're much younger.
Yes they are fed grain free diets ad are out in the sun all day.
What video are you referring to? Its not me.

General Discussion / Grassfed vs grainfed marrow?
« on: June 25, 2010, 11:08:21 am »
Im just starting the raw paleo diet and enjoy marrow very much. Unfortunately in the US one grass fed marrow bone is $3.50! Grainfed is merely $3 for 5-6 marrow bones. So my question is, does the nutrition of grassfed vs grainfed marrow make a difference when it comes to marrow?

General Discussion / Which bone marrow to get?
« on: April 03, 2010, 06:34:41 pm »
Im new to the raw paleo world and have a question on marrow. I have to make a special order to get some marrow but what kind do i get? I heard theres like leg marrow and other types...im really uneducated on this subject. What I really want to know is what bone marrow actually contains the most marrow/least amount of bone. Also i am able to get pork fat relatively cheap. Is pork fat nutritious...is there any reason to buy some?
thank you
