Minor political aside re RVAF diet politics

I was just recently watching an episode of the TV series "Married with Children"(5th episode of season 1), which is an amusingly/deceptively pro-Conservative-type of  TV show.  Anyway, one of the comments was :-
Al Bundy:- "OK-Steak Place OK with you buddy?"
Steve:- "You got it!"
Marcy-"Steve, we're vegetarian.., you don't eat meat."?!"
Steve:- "Honey, I'm working on a car!!!"

The point is that there are plenty of social memes about diet/food. For example, meat-eating is seen as being very  masculine, while being vegan is seen as being more feminine. Similiarly, the consumption of raw animal food is seen either  as a sign of horniness(due to raw oysters et al being viewed, correctly,  as aphrodisiacs) or as a sign of being a more violent human being. For example, cannibalism is often correlated with raw-meat-eating despite the fact that almost all cannibals I have ever heard of would cook their human meat beforehand.

Interesting. That show wouldn't air nowdays -- too politically incorrect.

It was an awesome show.  I do not find anything political in it.  It was a pure satire of every stereotype. Husbands want beer, sports, and hot young women.  Wives want to control husbands.  Young Bud is desperate to score with babes.  And Kelly wants to party all the time and milk men for money.

It is very Conservative if you look more carefully at it. On the surface, it shows a human family all behaving in an evil, treacherous fashion. But notice that the parents never get divorced despite the myriad incentives to do so, even Kelly is praised by and saved by her dad in the end for not marrying a rich, but hopelessly unfaithful heir. Then there is the bank heist story where Al Bundy's whole family believe he stole the cash, whereas, of course, despite claiming to be immoral, he did nothing of the kind...

I always used to laugh when people/idiots would proclaim in the late 80s/early 90s that Communism was over. It was rather bleedingly obvious that Communism had won in the West. One only had to look at the inexorable rise of political correctness, the endless examples of committees  etc. to see that Communism was alive and well, sadly.

I'm not sure what you are referring to.  Communism is an utopia developed by Marx and refined by Lenin.  It was never implemented anywhere in the world.

I do think so.  Sexism is as popular subject these days.  Any satire about it would do just fine today.

Whether full-on Communism as a goal can ever be achieved as an ultimate ideal is irrelevant. I merely pointed out the obvious, that Communism, a movement aiming eventually  at an ideal of egalitarianism, is as prevalent in the West now as it was in the Soviet Union. Whether egalitarianism actually works is another argument altogether. Well, it can, technically,  since equality does exist in Nature, if only in death.

Maybe you see it in Europe.  In the US there is not a hint of any communistic ideas.  There are some socialist ideas floating around like free healthcare and education.  But nothing more.

The above is just quibbling. All the characteristics that make up Communism are present in the US. There's the endless political committees, the political correctness etc. The only saving grace is that there are the 1st and 2nd amendments in the US which have prevented a lot worse from happening.
