Zeitgeist (I & II), Jacque Fresco, The Venus Project
« on: February 21, 2010, 11:12:41 pm »
Hi everyone, well this topic is very important to me and I personally think everyone should share it's content. Whether or not you agree with it, it deserve full consideration and attention before rejection. I don't want to write down a whole chapter about it but, basically, it explain how the present system (whether economic, political or religious) we are living in, is a system that perpetuate scarcity, competition, warfare, poverty, crime, fear, by the application of the monetary system. When you watch the Matrix movie, you think to yourself, "yeah that's right, we need to wake up!". Well to me, this is how the matrix really relate to our reality.

I suggest watching zeitgeist 2 (youtube) since it summarize and expose the most recent issues.
but then check out zeitgeist 1 for additional information
or any of Jacque Fresco interviews
or check for the venus project.

To me, these reports are shocking to our present comfort/in-comfort, but eventually, by the solutions proposed, bring true joy by foreseeing what our world could be if we'd change our way of functioning by creating abundance for everyone on earth!!

Please post your comments so we can have an open minded discussion about it. thanks.

It needs to go beyond any current political system. I suggest to just watch Zeitgeist 2 to get the big picture.
It is a 2 hours video document, but it is truly eloquent and worth taking time to watch it through.

Zeitgeist (religion) opened my eyes on many levels!
"Seek and thou shalt find"
"The more I learn what is a man, the more I want to be an animal."

Hi aunaturale, so did it for me. By your statement, do you mean the zeitgeist should be viewed as a religion, or that it opened your eyes in regards to religion?

Monk, it opened my eyes! Religion, economy, health all these
matters (and more) have been revealed their true colors to me.

I personally believe that one religion is not superior over another.
Does it mean that one would go to Hell because he/she was born in different
environment/country and was not raised to believe in say, Christianity, NO!

Like today, when I go to church in another hour, the priests will state "God"
but I know that Christianitys "God" has a name and that is Yahweh, which happens to stem
from the Hebrew bible. It makes sense now that their should be a name for a Creator
not simply just god with a capital G, wham bam thank you maam. I think if one
practices good morals, lives a good happy life, eats right (because remember YOUR body holds
your spirit and mind, what you what eat greatly impacts these) and prays to a HIGHER being
he is in good hands. I think everything else is supplementary (no pun intended).

I can talk all day about this topic, but I'm short on time.....

My 2 cents: "Zeitgiest" was very informative, though chock full of inaccuracies and opinion put forth as fact. If you disagree, I encourage you to go make some money before you tell me I'm mistaken:

http://zeitgeistchallenge.com/

I like what Peter had to say about money, though he could have gone a bit more in depth. A good starter course, I suppose, for people who haven't been exposed to monetary economics or the basics of currency, but it certainly doesn't end there.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money

The second movie I dislike quite a bit. While Peter rightly pints a finger at ills caused by the drive to gain at all cost & a system based on scarcity, he wrongly blames profit-motive and ignores additional factors (from psychology to the invention of modern agriculture [see: "The Vegetarian Myth" for starters]).

Similarly, The Venus Project means well, but ignores too many factors to ever be viable (ignoring the discussion of whether or not it SHOULD be considered as a viable option).
