Hello from the Pacific Northwest...
« on: July 14, 2010, 10:14:03 am »
I've been lurking for a couple months and decided that it is time to introduce myself. I'm 24 years old and I believe now that the Standard American Diet has had a negative effect on mind and health for most, if not all of my life.

I've had social and general anxiety for almost as long as I can remember. Its been severe enough in my past that I thought I may have some sort of serious mental illness(beyond generalized anxiety). I tried some anti-anxiety medication for a while but it didn't really solve anything and just made me feel like a zombie most of the time. I have however been able to tame it by removing most of the worst things out there such as white flour, white sugar, and hydrogenated oils to name a few. Like many here I discovered raw veganism about 4 years ago and eventually came to believe that it was the holy grail of diets.

I've had brief, one and two week runs of raw veganism but fortunately I have never committed to it long term. The way I view it now is that it can be a good cleansing or fasting diet but it can also be the opposite of what many people really need to heal and become well. In my brief experiments with it I have to admit that I felt great while doing it. However, I also felt cold even during the warm months here and lost too much weight to be comfortable with. Even when I was the most convinced that was veganism was the way to eat, something about it just didn't seem right.

I was only ever really interested in raw veganism from a health perspective. I do care about the condition animals are raised in but I am not at all opposed to eating them if that is the healthiest path to take. And I now believe that eating meat for me personally is the healthiest path to take.

I first learned about eating raw meat for health from Ramiel Nagel and his book Cure Tooth Decay. I'm sure most members here are already aware but he promotes an Aajonus Vonderplanitz/Weston Price style of diet. I'm definitely sold on the idea that grains are unhealthy but I am still planning to experiment with raw dairy. I have a lot of European blood so I believe may be able to do well with it but I am willing to drop it completely if necessary.

About a month ago I had my first raw (actually very lightly seared and warmed) steak and I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed it. I am still having a little bit of trouble enjoying the iron-like taste of blood though.

I also noticed that I felt very calm and contented after eating it, which is the opposite of what I've experienced eating cooked steak. I'm lucky enough to live by a small time butcher that I can request fatty cuts from.

I have a quick question though, and I apologize if its already been answered elsewhere, but how long does marrow usually keep in the fridge? I bought a cow femur that the butcher sawed in half about 2 weeks ago and I'm wondering if its good and if there is a way to tell if it has gone bad?

Welcome fellow human!

It is perfectly ok to try Primal Diet if it works for you.  There is a primal diet section in this forum.

How long does bone marrow keep in the ref?

I don't know, when I buy bone marrow, I consume it the same day. At most the next day.

Maybe the other members have experience with this.

Well I will just have to make sure I don't let it sit around next time. It is still a little intimidating because I haven't tried it yet but many members here say that it is one of the easiest raw animals foods to get used to so I will just have to ignore my trepidation and try it already. Thanks for the reply goodsamaritan.

welcome

Like yourself I have been searching around for help, before eating exclusively raw for the past six months

A lot of people are dealing with the same problems as you. There is definitely a real physical cause for our these problems, that will never be recognized by those who will only try to medicate you with toxic drugs.

I am 27 and been eatting a low crab high fat raw meat diet for six months

I have resolved many of my mental and physical problems on this diet.{I was a boarderline mental case}
                                                                                                possibly some type of poisoning?

I now believe this is the only type of diet where one can avoid the negative effects of modern food production, while at the same time supply the body with all the necessary componits to rebuild a fresh life

As for old bone marrow, after a few days in the fridge It does get a kind of sour taste, but I eat it anyway without any ill effect, My kids love it as well.

I would also recommend that you look into high meat as effective anti anxiety remedy,
It works for me and many others on this forum.

Well I think I will at least try it before throwing it out. I don't really have any experience with it but it seems like it should keep fairly well if its mostly fat.

Thanks for the suggestion of high meat for my anxiety. I've read about it a good deal in other parts of the forum and initially heard about it from Aajonus. It sounds like something I may want to get started with sooner rather than later.
