Raw meat eater on TLC's "freaky eaters" show
« on: October 17, 2010, 08:47:50 am »
Anyone seen it? Along side with a woman who drinks gallons of soda a day, a man who eats nothing but cheese burgers, and a woman who only eats French fries.

Anyway if you haven't in short his brother is afraid of him getting sick, somehow gets in contact with this show and they provide an "intervention". This includes some kind of nutritionist and psychologist showing up to meet with him and talk about his "disorder".

Him and the psychologist talk and they eventually come to the conclusion that he eats raw meat because he does not feel he fulfills his family's goals haha. Later he visits the doctors office and the doctor pulls out a bag of raw beef that is said to have come from his fridge and is tested positive for salmonella, although he has never gotten sick. I believe he mentioned he has been doing this for six years. They go on to do a stool test and he tests positive for a parasite (but has never had any symptoms), and.... something about indigested proteins in the gut. ??

Anyway what ends up happening is the nutritionist says he will get great abs if he fixes this indigested protein problem, by removing raw meats. He ends up giving up red meats because he cannot stand the taste of cooked beef, and I only assume dropped eating raw.

Whilst trying to watch it, I came across this sentence on one site documenting the show: "The U.K. version of the show, features freaky eaters who are addicted to the British equivalent of SpaghettiOs and Yorkshire pudding. Bloody hell!"

I caught this show a couple weeks back and immediately came here to see if anyone else had and had commented on it but nothing until now. That guy was in good shape. It looked like he already had a six pack. I wondered if they were just creative in the editing room? One has to wonder when they told him he'd get fat if he asked them why it hadn't happened yet? "You're going to get sick!" How come Im not sick yet?

First post. Been lurking around here for about a year or so... glad I finally signed up!

This is just my unprofessional opinion but...
Its ok to have low level of salmonella as long as its kept in balance and doesn't multiply, a low level wont affect a healthy person. Hence the guy didn't have symptoms. Salmonella are not worms, and only some worms grow huge, others are quite small. It is easy to get rid of worms using various natural methods. There is people who have been eating raw meat for more than 15 years, you think they never got any salmonella or worms, not one single time ever came in contact with a "parasite"? Or course they did, its just their body either got rid off them or they fasted a little or used some herbs like wormwood etc. pineapple fast, ACV etc etc too many methods to control parasites.
I believe parasites are more of a problem for people who eat processed food, too much sugars, grains, flour and all that crap. The parasites can then thrive in their body because they are like rats/raccoons and the body is a dirty garbage dumpster. In a clean healthy body and gut, parasites will not thrive, its like an empty clean dumpster, would too many rats or raccoons frequent it, likely not...

So they guy said after 6 years of eating raw meat that he will stop because of the nutritionist on the show telling him that??? What a load of crap!!! It doesn't even make any sense... Makes me happy I no longer watch TV.  ;D

Thre have been many studies showing that humans are commonly infested with tons of bacteria like salmonella or e coli but without suffering any kind of infection. As Aajonus pointed out,  so-called food-poisoning is therefore not caused by the bacteria themselves but simply by a bad environment(ie the revolting cooked diets such people routinely eat plus the fact that most serious food-poionsing cases invariably involve people already in ill-health prior to such food-poisoning such as old people, very ill people etc.)

Could people please put controversial topics such as this one in the Hot Topics forum, where it belongs. The General Discussions forum is overcrowded as it is.

Hey tyler, ever hear that humans have the "dirtiest" mouths out of any animal, and that we have the most bacteria in our mouths than any other animal. Many animal lovers like to say this because it is an excuse to kiss their dogs and cats. however, do you think the reason why our mouths have so much bacteria and are theoretically "dirty" is because we are the sickest species? Because of our industrialization and cooked diets? I always wondered this.
