Opinions and thoughts on unsaturated fats?
« on: January 14, 2011, 02:03:24 pm »
So I can't say I have ever looked at unsaturated fats negatively, by the media or otherwise, but recently this video came along. Want to hear some of your guy's thoughts on the matter. I know the video is titled nuts, but really it sounds like the subject is anything including unsaturated fats.

I doubt its actually the unsaturated fats that are the issue, its more about the source. The sources that are most thought of is nuts and seeds like he said are full of anti nutrients. Then vegetable oils which are so oxidized by the time you consume them that its more like ingesting poison. And the list goes on. I bet if a study on unsaturated fats were done on whole sources of easy to digest foods such as avacado then there would be no harm to your body.

100% agree. I get some weird heart palpitations when i eat any plant oil, including coconut oil which is saturated fat. No issue with any animal fat.

On the same subject then, with the occasional salad olive oil is no good? Is there some other kind of oil that would be better?

Well olive oil is more mono-unsaturated fat than other plant oils which doesn't go rancid as quickly. Coconut oil is probably best, but probably not to tasty on salds.

raw animal fats give me so much energy and focus, but oils i've had seem to drain my energy.  coconut oil just makes me nauseous.  nut/seed butters.. idk, but the nuts we can buy at the store go through me undigested and w/ discomfort. not sure if in the shell would be different.

i used to like blending some avocado with tomato, acv or lemon juice to make dressing.
