Train Your Brain, Change Your Brain

http://www.betterworldbooks.com/train-your-brain-change-your-brain-H0.aspx?SearchTerm=train+your+brain+change+your+brain

A fascinating look into how the journey of the brain sciences of brain plasticity etc has led to the effect of meditation to modify the structure and operation of the brain/mind. This one used the Dalai Lama to help in the process of discovering the ultimate avenues of research. I highly recommend this.

Just finished reading "End The Fed" by Senator (US) Ron Paul.
An amazing revelation to me as I was not aware of the reason and workings of the Federal Reserve in the US which is mirrored in other countries around the world.

An amazing institution that is completely above the law and operates largely on the ego of the guy who runs it.

From what I read in this book, it is the single greatest reason why wars, depressions, have occurred in the last century. I am amazed that there is not a hue and cry to dump that system. Amazingly most people including politicians are not cognizant of the reasons for, history of and dangers of this institution.

I just finished reading Alan Greenspan's self-congratulatory autobiography, (I am so brillant is what he in essence said) so it was refreshing to get a more accurate version of what he really did while he was in power.

Amazing that the guy was a disciple of Ayn Rand who is adamantly opposed to the Fed.

Basically in the past money in the US was guaranteed that if you gave your one dollar bill to a bank they were supposed to be able to give you 1 dollars worth of gold. In other words it was backed by gold. (Gold Standard)

However in 1912 a group of bankers got together in Alabama (secretly) and cooked up the current system which is not backed up by gold. The gov't simply prints more or less money as they chose to pay for things. So for instance in the past, if the king etc wanted to have a war, they had to tax people to pay for the cannons, but with the new system, they just had to print more money.

Like when they bailed out the automakers and the financial institutions a few years ago. They just cranked up the printing presses.

Thanks to this we have had huge wars in the last century and Gee Doubleya had no probs dashing off to war, as he won't have to pay the bill. Just his children when things go for sheet.

BTW I am not blaming GWB as he is just the latest in the parade of leaders to exercise this awesome privilege.

I recommend this book.
