My GF just bought some joy-a-toes. Just wondering if anyone else tried them.

Yes, they were too painful to use much so far.

I tried some gel things that are supposed to spread, relax and pamper your toes.  They felt horrible.

I found them on ebay for a lot less.

We have been using them for a couple of days now. You're supposed to only use them for 5 to 30 minutes a day in the beginning gradually increasing the time. Otherwise they are uncomfortable.

They are interesting. We like them. It's like an antidote to wearing too thin shoes.

My feet are wide so most shoes are too narrow which causes me great grief. When I finally figured it out I started buying extra wide shoes which was an incredible relief.

I got orthotic sneakers/shoes probably about 10 - 15 years ago and they are so cool. My feet used to be pronated but the orthotic sneakers caused them to straighten out naturally without my being aware of it. The sneakers are pretty well worn out (second pair) but they are so comfy with their thin soles that I cannot bear to ditch them.

I've already have wide strong feet but I'm curious. I have to get wide shoes too.

They are a row of three soft gel spacers that you put between your toes to force them to spread out. They have an explanation of their effects on the website. We have the small ones.

They basically undo the effect of shoes. Women especially who wear too skinny shoes or high heels are prone to bunions which are bad news.

Ahhh.....

I go barefoot (or flip-flops), so I guess I don;t need these.

Why buy a toe spreader, though? Why not just ditch the shoes?

You're right. I try to as much as possible which is a lot during the summer. It is definitely the way to go. Walking is safer and more enjoyable barefoot.

Why not just ditch the shoes?

Besides ditching the shoes, one can forgo fashion and wear shoes that don't scrunch the toes, or wear a proper-fitting sandal for the same effect.

There is also a yoga "treatment" of toe spreading using the fingers interlaced between the toes, don't know the name for it, but it is very refreshing and good for the joints in the feet.

Hey you're right. I forgot about that!

Various props used to help out the back etc come from the Yoga asana world.

SkinnyDevil,
I just realized that I said three spreaders. Sorry it should be four.

We have been wearing them for awhile and our toes are spreading slightly. They are comfortable now and we wear them for hours. I wear them barefoot.
Cheers
