Sea Vegetables Dehydrated at 105 degrees - Paleo? Toxic?
« on: March 09, 2011, 01:02:14 am »
Besides the fact that the 'raw' dehydrated at 105 degrees technically raw organic certified (to prevent arsenic, etc) sea veggies I buy are called raw, are they really paleo because of they are dehydrated though at a low temperature, their salt content, the possible presence of arsenic, mercury, etc, and it being neither plant nor animal, etc. Does it have any toxins? And does it's 'raw' status or toxin status being algae just like how red tide toxin causing algae is algae too make it paleo or no?

104 degrees fahrenheit , not 105, is the limit actually. As for algae, they are a waste of time even when raw as the human body does not properly absorb some of the nutrients. Vegans take it because it has vitamin b12, for example, but it's not in a form that humans can take up.

Ah okay, the only reason I ate it was because I was worried where would I get my iodine from? What other foods have iodine?

Raw shellfish has plenty. But most other raw animal foods have a little iodine in them I think?

Sorry for the bump but even though all the nutrients may not be absorbable does that make them toxic? I only want to consume it for the iodine and a 1/3 cup sea veggies has like 300% RDA for iodine.

Just don't bother with them.
