hmm...  makes sense to me.

if prehistoric man took initiative from watching animals, surly he would have observed the effects of certain natural substances altering "normal" behavior.   like the african prey and predators, who enjoy quality time together eating fermented fruits that fall to the ground...  or the effects of catnip on felines...  over the years, it must have taken some experimentation to learn about the effects of nutmeg, salvia, cannabis and other naturally provided herbs and plants.

I'm sure man found out about things like cannabis or opium in the same way as cooking. Just add fire.

you really have to experience psychedelics to "get it" but its something as ancient as our minds themselves because we coevolved with every living thing in the universe by some near or distant relationship and that includes mushrooms, opiates, ayahuasca, cannibinoids, dmt (which is also released in our brains every night when we dream and potently when we die), we have receptors in our brains for these things , psilocybin fits right in there with dopamine and doesn't cause any crashes afterwords, its a beautiful and beneficially gift from our heritage, much like all of these substances, the abuse of them is what has caused their demonization, and its too bad, they should be respected
