Learning more about raw meat as an option
« on: July 31, 2014, 01:32:41 am »
Hi,  I never know what to say to introduce myself, so I'll keep it short.  I'm not sure how much raw food I can handle, but I seem to like raw fish (of course), raw duck, raw beef (who doesn't?), and raw (GASP!) pork.  I used to think pork was dry and bland.  Now I look for the healthiest pork so I can sneak some of it raw.  What's the risk of trichinosis nowadays? Not that it will stop me.  Hunting season is my favorite time... I live in an area that has feral pigs and also huge boars.  If the animal is healthy enough, I'll take some risks.

So basically I like hunting, I like to experiment with more and more raw food, I'm a middle aged woman, and I live in the USA.  Nice to meet y'all.  Also, goodsamaritan... I learned judo from a fellow who was from the Philippines.  I was delighted to find this forum being run by another big hearted Filipino.  No brown nosing intended, I just like the culture.

Welcome, JJ!

I think of uncooked foods as THE ONLY option, the only option that makes sense.

Weclome JJ. I hunt too, though we don't have hogs up here in Vermont. I've been pondering experimenting with raw pork, but would need to find someone who raised them on their natural diet rather than put them out on pasture and fed them largely GMO grain, which is what most commercial hog operations seem to do up here in the northeast.

Trichinosis is now unheard of in the West. You still get some cases in  tropical countries  like Vietnam, though.
