Old news, and solar and other alternative energy tech will have this mostly fixed within 15-20 years. But yes, it would suck to live there if you had weak lungs or other problems like that.

They have been talking about solar for years, but there are problems involved. For example, the green subsidies promoting the use of alternative energy are being removed, at least in the UK. Then the promise of selling the excess energy back to the national grid did not work out as the national grid did not want sudden  unexpected surges to occur.Lastly, it apparently takes roughly 8 years for private citizens to recoup the huge costs of the solar panels (and that was taking into account the tax-benefits etc. previously given by the UK government but which no longer apply).

Solar is getting better and cheaper every year. Research it if you don't believe me.

I already have at my cousin's recent suggestion. My villa would, apparently, need about 50,000 pounds to be spent on solar panels, installation etc. Not cheap at all. Electric cars need constantly to be recharged after little use, unlike gasoline-/petrol-driven cars, and so on. I keep on hearing about cars with fusion engines but they never do appear...

We are making the website of a local solar solutions installer and the economics are not yet exciting or enticing.  Maybe in the future.

A sure sign that pollution is everywhere, not just in the air. No wonder I avoid sea resorts where millions of people visit each year, like the Costa del Sol etc. They invariably have plastic refuse in the nearby waters, plus families love pissing in the water so as to avoid having to go to nearby toilets, and then there is the ever-present threat of illegal sewage spewing from the hotels into the sea. I recall an article a while back showing  a whole stretch of Rio beach being unusable as the neighbouring sea was full of disgusting human sewage:-

Thank god I never swam when I went to Rio in the 1990s!
