While it's true that being fat is a sign of toxicity, it remains unclear whether the additional fat causes or is caused by said toxicity and health problems, or if it even mitigates them. There are studies showing reduced mortality in fat people compared with their thin counterparts. AV certainly thought that a little extra fat was highly beneficial for health in average people who are exposed to heavy doses of toxicity, because the fat is used to store toxins in a safe way and prevent them from poisoning the organs.

Maybe rather than encouraging fat people to lose weight, we should encourage all to improve their health. Part of the problem, however, is that few agree on what the best ways are to do that. What one person or expert thinks will improve health, another thinks it will damage it. And so on.

Gary Taubes, for instance, believes that it's simple and refined carbohydrates, and sugar in particular, that cause most of the ailments of our day, and he thinks that while they cause obesity also, that it's not necessarily that the obesity itself causes some of the other health problems normally associated with it, but that the carbs cause both the obesity and the other diseases.

Dr. John Mcdougall, on the other end of the spectrum, believes that it's fat and protein in large amounts that cause health problems, and carbs, especially starch, for him are the panacea that improves all health conditions and which are necessary to keep human bodies working at an ideal state.

Still others such as Durian Rider say it's all about drinking enough water and eating enough sugar, be it from fruits, sprite or just pure dry, refined sugar from a bag.

Most nutritionists would tell you to get a balanced diet.

The mainstream doctors say it's all about getting your meds and your checkups.

Others believe it's all about exercise. Others say it's about your mental state of being. Others believe that a relationship with God is what cures all ailments.

And then there are plenty of people who don't believe there's anything you can do to improve your health, and that it's all about genetics and luck.
