While the cold-climate theory of intelligence has some definite flaws of its own, I have noticed that as one gets into hotter and hotter climates, one sees the inhabitants routinely having a siesta during the middle of the day, the implication being that physical and mental effort during hot temperatures  is too much for the human body/brain.
