Feeling SAD
« on: November 24, 2008, 12:46:46 am »
Hi, I just wanted to throw out my feelings of SADness...

I've done so much to improve my life, but somehow I'm still hooked on lattes and sub-shop food... It's psychological. I'm the caregiver for my family and have no one to "caregive" me, so when I'm feeling stressed / unhappy I want someone else to make (greasy, salty, mushy) food for me or hot sugary drinks for me and clean up afterward... What I really need is a mom (never had that). It's crazy and I feel so stuck and miserable.

*sigh*

Made some green juice and camped out here this morning instead of fetching a latte. You're all keeping me honest. I'll jump into "what are you eating now" later, and there won't be any "lasagna," I promise!

That's exactly how I felt before I got lucky and found a source of edible beef fat, and balanced it with fish oil.

I'm on my own now too, although I did have a mom to make me food was I was younger. She gave up when I started with my health food kicks around 18 or 19 years of age. I often think that if I had someone to hang out with that could sit and look at me eat liver and not be grossed out this whole thing would be so much easier.

Everything is easier with support, isn't it?

A dear old lady on my block took to watching the same sports events and playing the same video games as her children and grandchildren to create some common ground. She was one of the few real adults I ever met, and "young" until the day the she died.

I've been thinking about what you said, not just about the "food" craving, but about satiation / satisfaction in general. Unlike people who genuinely do not have food, we rich peoples are taught DO NOT EAT FAT, and blame our hunger on Mother, the Government, or some Other. We're sold psychotherapy, corn syrup, and Direct TV because we're starving and desperate and our brains don't work. This message is even louder if you're a woman.

Satisfied people are not good consumers.

I purchased generous portions of suet and fat when I bought meat today. Thank you for your insight on this.

Holy crap that was an insightful response! Very true.

As for the OP    that's like really sad, I feel it you have shared your sadness well, I hope you find the inner strength to not need anyone else caretaking you. After all you are the strong one if you are caretaking everyone else.
