Hello All
« on: February 17, 2010, 11:47:38 am »
Hello,

Just thought I'd introduce myself.  My name is Corey, I'm 21 years old.  I have been eating a high-fat diet for quite a while now but always seemed to step outside the box a little too much and have since become a bit more strict in my dietary regime.

I have recently cut out eggs, butter, bacon, chicken, etc. and have pretty much been living on beef fat and lean.  I get my fat for free from the butcher at the local markets.  I buy whole cryovac sealed top sirloins and cut a few days steak off one and leave the rest until i need more.  I eat 3 meals a day, as this is really the only method for me to keep a decent weight for my height.  I'm about 6'4" and when eating 2 meals per day seem to hover around 165 but when lifting weights and eating 3 meals I can stay in the 170-180 range quite easily.

I eat about 1/4 lb. fat and 1/2 lb. lean at each meal.  It breaks down to roughly 300 cal protein and 1000 cal fat.  This adds up to roughly 4,000 cal per day.  I have an extremely fast metabolism so this amount of calories does not seem to be too much, or little.  The sirloins cost me 2.69 a pound so the 1.5 pounds i eat cost me about $4 per day (fat is free).  This is about $120 a month, I usually take a cod liver or krill oil supplement, plus vitamin D so my total costs are around $160.  Not bad considering most people will spend $4 on a McGriddle sandwich!

I let the meat warm in the oven at around 160 for 5-10 minutes to get warm, then usually sear the outsides for a about 30-45 seconds on each side.  It's is raw for the most part, I basically cook that little bit for the flavor that it provides.  I season it with whatever I buy (salt-free).

I'd say my only vice would be the morning is a small espresso with a little bit of heavy cream.  Does not seem to cause any cravings for me.

I definitely feel a difference when sticking to pure fat and lean red meat compared to eggs, butter, etc.  It seems eggs would bloat me up and other meats do not provide then nutritional value compared to red meat (pound for pound).

Anyway, just wanted to say hi, I'll probably be started a journal here soon.  I don't really have any issues in terms of weight or mood.  I would say putting on a little more weight is my biggest issue (or goal rather) so maybe that's what I'll keep track of and see how different ratios work for it.  Always got to love a little experimentation.  Have a great day people.

-Corey

Hi Corey,

I consciously try for variety of meats or vegs or fruit.  Makes it all more fun.

Hope you are having a great time with rpd.

I don't seem to do well with any fruit and veggies don't really seem to provide any benefit for me either.

I don't feel variety is important (to me at least) as it mainly feeds your mind, not your body.  I'm an all or nothing person and it seems like the more I stepped outside the red meat and fat box, the worse I felt (not that I felt bad just not that magical feeling that I usually feel)

Top sirloins seem to be the best medium between expensive ribeyes and tough chucks...so that's why i get them.

Other than that thank you for the welcome...
