eating raw veg and cooked meat together
« on: November 09, 2009, 08:01:57 pm »
I basically eat salad and cooked meat for lunch; that's the best I can do since the school cafeteria is limited. I heard mixing cooked and raw is harmful so should I eat the meat by itself? The meat that's served is low quality- mostly chicken, processed meats, sometimes pork/beef or no meat at all -_-BTW, I often feel  full, sometimes uncomfortably full after eating such meals...indigestion?

I view raw salad greens with suspicion as I never digested it well.  Maybe I don't have enough stomachs like a real herbivore.

My kids get away with some cooked paleo diet with cooked / rare meat and cucumbers... cucumbers being technically fruits, they digest much easier and provide a lot of hydrating water sorely needed when eating cooked meat.

Bring your own cucumbers.  They are much better than leaves.

It's better to separate animal food and plant food, they don't mix well as they require different enzymes. I suggest eating raw plant food(salads or fruit) first then wait at least half an hour and eat cooked meat afterwards. But, really, you ought instead to eat a large raw-meat-meal  in the evening and just bring some raw fruit to school to eat during the day, along with the raw salad.

Cooked meat doesn't digest as easily, especially if cooked to death like most cafeterias do. It sits in my stomach like a lump.

I go the opposite actually.  Raw meat and cooked carbs.  I'd go with Tyler's advice.  Eat a big meal of raw meat and fat a good few hours before bed, and then try to eat some again in the morning.  Snack on carbs throughout the day, avoiding the toxic way overly cooked meat from the cafeteria.
When you consume an organism it loses individuality, but its biological life never ends.  Digestion is merely a transfer of its life to mine.
