Om nom nom! Horse Meat.
« on: March 09, 2010, 09:36:13 pm »
I just recieved my shipping of horse meat and back fat.

I haven't tried the meat yet but the fat is DELICOUS! It's almost identical to butter. Just melts perfectly in your mouth.

Also horse meat is dirt cheap here, it's almost 50% cheaper then beef and it's probably healthier aswell.

So yeah, I suggest you try switching it up and going for horse meat for a while instead of beef only.

I agree raw horsemeat is usually cheaper and better tasting than raw beef. You are very lucky to get raw horse back fat. I can only get the raw horse muscle-meats.

Yes - actually.

My butcher made a mistake and sent it to me frozen, but seeing as I only ordered a small bit to see if it was any good, it's not a big deal.

Why do you ask?

I just heard from a vitamin supplier that some of the horses for slaughter are from breeders of race horses.  They are the "rejects".  Of course it means most probably the horse meat I'm getting is not organic.

Because the only access I have to grass fed meats is through frozen delivery and was just wondering how you get it.
