4 Hour Body
« on: April 29, 2011, 12:39:43 am »
I expect some severe flamage over this but I would like to open up this discussion.

I just picked up the 4 Hour Body by Tim Ferris the other day because after leafing through it I found some rather novel concepts that I wanted to try to apply.  Diet-wise, it is not remotely paleo, nor raw but there are ideas that could be applied to the raw paleo diet.  One huge prob is he loves beans, tsk tsk and he prescribes a diet that is not really a natural plan (i.e. on his weight loss plan, he follows a strict diet for 6 days then has a gorge fest on day 7 where he eats everything he wants).  His diet and work-out strategies are designed to "hack" the human body systems for a desired effect.

It is a good sized book that has topics on weight loss, bodybuilding, endurance training, cold water therapy.

I have been following (mostly) a raw paleo diet for about a year but have not really played around with other ideas.  I am thinking of tweaking Tim's ideas and making a raw paleo version of it - w/o legumes or the processed cheat day shit.  I am planning on avoiding all fruits for the 6 days and then having my cheat day with an abundance of various fruits, raw honey etc.

Just wondering if any of you have explored any of his ideas.

I've heard of Tim Ferris and his books, they sound like interesting reads.

I would say go for it.  Try and do your experiment as scientifically as possible (limiting variables).  And keep us updated on the forum about your results.
