Avocado dips..?
« on: June 09, 2010, 07:55:02 pm »
Anyone knows how to make some? I've checked online and I kind of not want to add salt...  :(

Am thinking of like say, mashing up the avocado, adding a little bit of water, blend or mix it and then chill it in the fridge...

That won't work right? Just pure avocado? :(

I've never thought about that combo.

I used to mash avocado and mix it with grated carrot.  That's not very paleo though.  It has as interesting texture and everyone I gave it to liked it too.

That would work just fine Dwight. Just mash it up with a fork though, no need to blend/mix it.
You can squeeze a bit of lemon juice into the mix if you want instead of water. This will cut the fattiness of the avocado nicely while not overpowering the dip (or salsa) like vinegar would.
I don't know which herbs are considered "paleo" but you could chiffonade some basil to toss with the avocado (just go light as it'll overpower the avocado in large amounts).

Cut the fattiness? Meaning? :O

Anyways, I've not been eating any raw fats/meats for quite some time now. It was just carbs, carbs and carbs and I feel so damn grumpy.

By the way, what's the required fat/meat needed for a boy my age? I'm 19. I stand about at 170cm or more and I weight about 50kg. I've thought about buying a week's worth of fats/meat and head down to the market every Sunday.

It's a throwback to my pre-carnivore days.
An acid tempers/cuts the mouth-coating fatty foods leave keeping the flavors more pronounced.

It's hard to say; everybody has different needs depending on basal metabolism as well as whatever healing is occurring in the body at the time. If you're eating an omnivorous diet you're probably safe to start with a pound a day and see how you feel. Adjust as needed.

Dwight, like djr says, it's individual.  You have epilepsy, right?  From what I've seen people with epilepsy do better with higher fat and lower carbs than most.
