raw coconut aminos?
« on: December 17, 2010, 12:51:25 am »
as a condiment for raw meat/sashami:

http://www.coconutsecret.com/aminos2.html

1 bottle lasts over two weeks and has <75 g sugar and ~5 g sodium. So i guess it adds about 5 g sugar and .5 g salt per day

If I prefer the taste of raw meat using this product, should I use it?

It sounds better than soy.  If you had to choose between the two, this would be better I think.  I've never tried it.  I like my meat as it is.

I think you should make your own coconut aminos at home. That way you know exactly what's going into it, and you can be sure that it's truly raw.

I love coconut aminos... not sure if they are "good for you" and they are probably not raw.
I only eat it every once and a while.
I mix it up with wasabi and dip beef into it   ;D

Looks interesting, I'll look for it next time I'm at the health-food store.
I also enjoy raw fish and red meat dipped in a Tamari so this stuff is probably better.
It may not be so "good" for you but you only need to dip a bit for a ton of flavor so you consume a tiny amount anyway, unless you like your sashimis swimming in the stuff  :P

I eat about a pound of coconut better every 5 days and feel alright, although I often wonder about long term effects of soo much coconut, I may turn into a coconut , I am fairly convinced that I eat more coconut than anyone  around here, so small amount of coconut amino's should be fairly safe even if they are not optimal by paleo standards as long as you don't have any noticeable issues with it.

I use my butter for the same reason, to make raw meat into a dessert.

Some cultures live on almost all coconut and fish.
If you turn into a coconut please let us know ;)

Its pretty sweet so it probably contains a decent amount of sugar but if you don't mind that I don't see any problem with it.  Personally I don't think there's too much difference between this and soy sauce health wise but I;m sure some will disagree.  It definitely go's really good with meat.
