there is no difference between grain-fed and grass-fed lamb that i can see.  both appear very fatty.

also i doubt anyone can tell the difference between deer completely isolated in the wild and deer supplementing with corn from the farm field.  both look identically lean.

i suspect goats will look identical as well.

there is probably a difference between industrially fed beef and pastured beef.

on the other hand, farmed salmon is much fatter than wild-caught salmon.

Well according to a family friend who is a hunter, goose has really deep yellow fat while farmed doesnt. To me beef looks identical.

Generally, beef looks very similar, but grass-fed that I've had looks and feels firmer textured; like the muscle strands are larger and more well defined, even in ground beef. The biggest difference is smell. After eating grassfed for a couple of weeks, grain fed just began to smell very... off. On that note, my last batch of Slanker's has been a bit in that direction :(. Can't really go inspect their farm(s) to check for grain supplementation to get them through the winter either.

Unfortunately grain fed beef sometimes tastes and smells as good as grass fed beef, especially beef from France, really tricky. Grain fed beef from Germany (for exmaple) is much better because it usually stinks like hell and is therefore easier to identify as hazard.

Not later than 24h after eating I always get the definitive answer:

Grass fed beef makes me happy, self-confident and healthy.

Grain fed beef makes me mentally ill, aggressive, depressive, sleeplessly, MAD
and causes inflammation in my gi tract with cramps and pain.

Since 1998 I strictly avoid all grains like the plaque. It was one of my best decisions in life.
Now my intolerance seems to be maximal.

Grain fed meat is PURE HELL!
