Eating Liver Without Supplementing Vitamin D
« on: October 31, 2011, 02:41:24 am »
Is it safe to eat lots of liver without supplementing with cod liver oil for Vitamin D? It seems that Liver has a lot of Vitamin A, but it doesn't seem to have Vitamin D.

If you didn't also eat CLO, wouldn't your Vitamin A and Vitamin D ratio get thrown off?

i would avoid eating lots of anything at once or every day.  i would stick to variety and moderation and not worry about specific vitamins or other nutrients.

I guess you would not be able to eat "lots of" raw liver unprepared. You will get a stop-signal soon and it will taste not so good thereafter. Always eat liver raw and unseasoned, your bod will tell when enough. :)
Eat fresh saltwaterfish - not codliver oil, I would suggest. ;)

I do would supplement with vit D3 if no or little access to sun.

Interestingly enough I found that eating raw liver no longer made me feel euphoric yesterday (as it normally does). I've probably had enough for right now. I think I definitely need variety.

Are eating whole raw eggs a good idea?

If you have a good source (organic or pastured) whole eggs are great! Eat the eggshell too if you like!
I use to make this party-joke sometimes eating the whole egg with shell and all only with my hands and teeth before friends, they think it is fun. ;) It really is very possible, the shell is not so hard at all!

I usually eat more yolks as whites though, as I like the taste better. I do like the withes too mostly!

I avoid egg whites.  I think they cause problems with my health.  My cat would never eat them, only the yolks. The dog ate both, though.
