hello everyone, I hope to start the raw diet in 17 days time. (18th is my birthday). well i have the usual problems. I am seriously obese and i read all the bad health effects that are attributed to obesity. I tried the raw vegan before but it didnt work so well.
I have a question. what is the best eating pattern to follow on the raw vegan and raw meat diet. do you just eat meat in the morning afternoon and night?

Different strokes for different folks! Welcome felix!

Everyone here has a different point of view about the right way, and some are relativistic, whatever works for you. The main thing you should glean from that, is that health is a journey, and a personal one at that. You will have to study, learn, experiment and most of all, think for yourself! If someone here tells you something is the greatest thing in the world for your health, but it doesn't work for you, then it is good for them, not for you. But be assured, that if you stick with it, learn all you can, and be resourceful, you will find real, healthful, long-term answers, and wind up happier than you've ever been.

Start in the newbie section and read the basics. Also try to run searches before asking questions.

If obesity is what you're fighting, I HIGHLY recommend "Why we get fat and what to do about it" and " Good Calorie, Bad Calories" both by Gary Taubes.

Essentially your body(And I mean specifically yours, unlike mine which won't store fat at all, to the point that it's difficult for me to gain more than a couple pounds.) likes to store lots of fat when you eat starches/carbs/sugars. But that is ok because you can eat all the fat you want, and be all the healthier for it. Also you may partake of copious amounts of protein. Carbs, of any kind should be a veryyyyyy small proportion of your diet. Fats do not make you fat, carbs do. Fact check this, and then internalize it. Everytime you feel craving for a carb, eat as much fat as it takes for you to feel sated. Good luck!

I have had obesity problems for many years, and a raw paleo diet has been incredibly successful for me. I don't eat zero carbohydrates, but the carb foods I eat are not grains and not legumes, and rarely "underground" (starchy) veggies. As Citrus High mentioned, fat is okay, repeat: fat is okay! I eat the raw fats as they occur in the foods I eat, mostly uncooked animal fats, avocado, raw coconut, egg yolk, raw nuts.

I don't think of RPD as "on a diet". I don't actually follow an eating pattern the way I used to when I was "on a diet" of some kind. Being "on a diet" always made me feel like I had to get to the end of the diet so I could be "off a diet" sometime in the future, and that way of thinking and living feels insane to me. It also was a factor in yo-yo dieting (losing and gaining cycles) that most people experience with deliberate weight loss diets. Sometimes cravings came from feeling like I was being deprived, and that led me to being unable to stick to diets.

In another sense, I do have a new pattern of eating, but it is one I developed by trying different ideas from this forum. I also have a new pattern of activity, where I try to live more closely to someone who didn't have such a modern lifestyle of automobiles and elevators.

Good luck in your endeavor!

    Welcome, Felix!

I feel pretty certain that you will find your body fat/muscle etc redistributing, your flesh denser and healthier and your measurements improving impressively.  You'll probably do best for now by sticking to a set of raw paleo foods, and eating them whenever you're hungry, but especially the fats, and be careful how you combine meals.
