There's this tiny little ipod that has 2 gigs it's called the shuffle and it has manual buttons:

It's under $50 and I learned that War and Peace is under a gig so it's probably big enough for most of what I would want to do. Is there a reason for me not to get this?

As far as size the book will compress somewhat anyways, so 2 gb is plenty

I haven't tried the shuttle. I think the difficulty might be in getting back to the place in the book where you left off. That's the value in the screen.

That's a very important thing to be able to do indeed Al! I was hoping it would be the best of both worlds with the buttons that Thoth liked and reliability of an ipod - but if I can't return easily to the exact spot I left off it's basically useless for me.
